[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142253] Writer cursor can't be stopped from blinking
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142253 --- Comment #8 from Jon --- Many Thanks! Problem solved. The blinking cursor might seem a small problem but as I have one or two slightly autistic traits the blinking was driving me KNUTZ! Thanks again. (It seems the worm was added by my copy & paste operation.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142253 --- Comment #5 from Buovjaga --- (In reply to Jon from comment #4) > As stated above I've tried the systems setting route. Also, this problem > doesn't affect other programs e.g. gedit or Calc- so this seems specific to > Writer. > > Version: 7.2.6.2 / LibreOffice Community > Build ID: 20(Build:2) > CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: x11 > Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-GB > Ubuntu package version: 1:7.2.6-0ubuntu0.21.10.1 > Calc: threaded I think the Help - About info nails it: you are lacking any proper UI backend. You are using the "emergency backup", fallback x11 UI. Try sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gtk3 and see how it works. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142253 --- Comment #4 from Jon --- As stated above I've tried the systems setting route. Also, this problem doesn't affect other programs e.g. gedit or Calc- so this seems specific to Writer. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142253] Writer cursor can't be stopped from blinking
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142253 --- Comment #3 from Buovjaga --- Jon: you replied to me privately via email. I was hoping that you would comment on this bug report. You said My LibreOffice version is 7.2.6.2 Locale en-GB.UTF-8 My Ubuntu package version is 1:7.2.6-0ubuntu0.21.10.1 However, you were asked to copy the version information from the Help - About dialog as it has more details. The dialog has a button for copying the info. Also, can you confirm that you followed the same procedure as Mike: (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #1) > Opening Ubuntu 20.04's Settings, and going to Universal Access, I click on > Cursor Blinking item under "Typing". It opens a dialog allowing to > enable/disable blinking (checkbox), and control the speed (slider). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142253] Writer cursor can't be stopped from blinking
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142253 --- Comment #1 from Mike Kaganski --- I cannot repro using Version: 6.4.7.2 Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded Opening Ubuntu 20.04's Settings, and going to Universal Access, I click on Cursor Blinking item under "Typing". It opens a dialog allowing to enable/disable blinking (checkbox), and control the speed (slider). Writer reacts to enabling/disabling as expected. Also decreasing the speed from middle position to the rightmost position changes (slows down) cursor blinking rate by about two times. However, increasing the speed (moving slider to the leftmost position) also seems to slow down the cursor, not to make it blink faster. I controlled the expected increase/decrease of the blinking rate using gedit (there's no indication on the dialog itself). I assume that this is related to https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/309151. As asked there, it's *very important* to provide the asked information - about your LibreOffice, as well as about your OS. E.g., it might be about your LibreOffice's VCL plugin (gtk3); or about used environment (Gnome in my case), or about blinking configuration method (so that some alternative setting could affect other apps, but not LibreOffice); also about LibreOffice installation method (distro package manager/PPA/TDF packages/snap, etc.). Please do *not* skip information that *you* might suppose redundant, just because you wrote about "a number of Ubuntu & LibreOffice versions". Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
