@picopa88: thanks for the instructions.

Present problem makes selection of a color on the screen impossible. The
behaviour is probably related to the Retina display. Unless you could work the
eyedropper on a Retina Mac I am afraid you missed the point.

Select the shape or text you want to assign a new color to. (To select multiple
objects, press Ctrl and then click the shape.)
On the Shape or Format tab, choose either Shape Fill (if you're filling a
shape) or Text Fill (if you're filling text).
Point to the color you want to apply, and then click. Color is immediately
applied to the slide background.

If you want all the slides in the file to have the same background, at the
bottom of the Format Background pane, select Apply to All.

If you've changed your mind and don't want to apply the color, at the bottom of
the Format Background pane, select Reset Background.

Another confirmation on a 20.5" Retina Mac from 2019 running OS X 10.14.5

and another non-confirmation on a 20.5 non-Retina Mac from 2011 running OSX
10.11.6

Could trace this problem back to version 6.4.7.2, may be a lot older.

Is reproducible both on retina and old school Mac.
