I've uploaded a new example file as .odt (never saved as .docx) and also screenshots taken opening the the .odt and the .docx file opened in Word. This .docx file opens as multiple pages in Writer. Correct was to report filesave problem for DOC/X is to first save as ODT (after step 1.) and attach it. Please do.
