I mean 7.4 branch is the dev branch, https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan show first version (7.4.0) should be released in about 15 days. But as all first versions, it may contain some regression and should be a avoid for production. Now to come back to your question, I don't know. Since LO 7.1 branch is EOL and you can upgrade LO for free, I wouldn't spend time to investigate. It may be fixed in newer versions, but it seems to imply that macros created with newer versions will crash when loading in older versions.
