https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42428 --- Comment #31 from madisonabuba...@hotmail.com --- However, changes made in one window will reflect in all others since they are linked to the same document. While newer versions or add-ons might introduce split panes natively, users can still achieve a similar editing experience with this workaround. For the most current information, it's advised to consult the latest LibreOffice documentation or user guides. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42428] Split panes in same window for side-by-side or above-and-below editing of two (or more) parts a single document/file
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42428 --- Comment #30 from madisonabuba...@hotmail.com --- As of September 2021, In this site https://answersville.com/, LibreOffice lacks a built-in split panes feature for side-by-side or above-and-below editing within the same window. To simulate this, users can open the same document in multiple windows and arrange them accordingly. Each window can be independently scrolled and edited, enabling a semblance of split panes functionality. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

The split window feature allows you to view one or more documents. You can easily switch between documents using the "Window" pull-down menu. In programming it does not make sense of creating the feature itself. Actually the feature exist already in Calc - so there would be expected to implement it also in Writer and why not also in other apps of LibreOffice where possible. There will be never two choices in menu like "split ONE document" and "split TWO documents". If there would be developed diff like we know it in programming editors then this would be different funtionality than just splitting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I suspect that it's meant to serve the same purpose as the split pane, though not as elegant. It's probably an easier implementation for the coders. I can confirm dE's experience about having "independent scrolls... when a duplicate document is opened via Windows > New Window." Still the split pane is a more elegant solution.
