Still unanswered: Is the dictionary--for text language English (UK)--available, and enabled (e.g.: prefixed blue 'ABC' checkmark symbol, checkmarks in Language Settings...Available language modules)? I'm pretty sure it is the same problem as described in bug 50552 (and duplicates). Hope it helps. I think it helps. There is no text language selected, so spell check can't know what the language should be. Did you create the Document from Files Explorer or Desktop (rightclick - new - LibO WRITER document)? If yes, the Problem might be Bug 38521 - Spell check does not work in certain circumstances , what can't be fixed in LibO. Or a new aspect of Bug 50552 - SPELL check does not mark wrong text and capitalization rule?
