Please, be more specific. Which command do you use when you "try to open the
document from Desktop (not the Desktop folder)" ?

Status has been set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once
requested information has been provided.

Same problem here in Ubuntu 19.10 when I try to open the document from Desktop
(not the Desktop folder).

But when I use File manager and go to Desktop folder, then I can open it
normally.

Generally there is no system integration for beta versions. For these beta
version I use my own script to launch LibreOffice.

Do you have the same problem with the current stable version (4.1.0.4)?

Hello A.Fakhouri, *,
(In reply to comment #3)
This doesn't explain why simply callig libreoffice, libreofficedev or
soffice from the terminal doesn't work though.

it should only be soffice, as this is the script, which calls soffice.bin ...
;) And yes, I'm wondering myself, why /opt isn't added as a default path in
Linux Mint ... :(

Shouldn't the packages create (at least) a symlink somewhere in /usr/bin or
 /usr/local/bin or so?

No. The usual way to install not really used packages is, to install them to
/opt instead somewhere below /usr (I only forgot, where this was defined ... :(
). But maybe something has changed here, what I am not aware of ... ;)
Thanks for your answer
Thomas.

Hello A. Fakhouri, *,
are you sure, Cinnamon has added /opt to its default paths to search? May I ask
you to post the relevant lines from your Cinnamon config file and/or ~/.bashrc?
Have you tried it with a newer version than LO 4.1.0.0.beta1, or with GNOME or
any other DM/DE as well? Does it work there?

Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.
