I have investigated that this behavior is determined by text anchoring options.
Steps to use:
0. Create a textbox (with F2 or “Text” button from “Drawing” toolbar, I can not
see any difference).
1. Right click on text, select “Text” in the context menu.
2. In the “Text” dialogue use “Text Anchor” switcher and “Full width” checkbox
to set what you want.

When one creates a new textbox anchoring depends on anchoring of a previous
textbox and was the textbox created by a click or size was determined during
creation.

So, it is not a bug, it is a feature.

Text alignment in Draw

Hello.
This behavior is not related to pdf import. I create a new Draw document, add
text (F2) and try to change alignment. Draw uses width of the longest string as
a width for alignment (see attached screenshot). If I create a rectangle,
select it and add text, the problem does not exist.

I am not sure it is a bug or a feature.

That's interesting. If I open a Draw document, hit F2 and start typing, I can
duplicate what you are showing me.

But if I go into the toolbar and draw a text box and then type text and center,
or draw a rectangle and then type text and center, it centers inside the
confines of the box, and not according to the width of the text.

Should this behavior be consistent across the various methods to enter text in
Draw document?

I'm sorry, but I am going to have to reopen this.

I tried the steps you outlined, and they did not make a difference.

I am more than willing to try more things, if there is more you want me to
troubleshoot.

Hi Andy, thanks for reporting.

Alignment is a paragraph option and direct format has precedence, so is needed
clear first direct format.

What you can do is set up an style to apply (F11) for the object/text,
select all Ctrl+A (this select all object in the page),
select all Ctrl+A (while editing object text, to modify only the text of one
object)
clear direct format Ctrl+M
apply your set up style.

I think it's not a bug, it's how it works.

Remember Draw it's not designed as a complete pdf editor, only for minor
changes (it began as an extension, now integrated).

Please if you are not agree, reopen it.
