Item in Ubuntu PPA was solved with LO Version: 4.4.6.3 - Build ID:
40m0(Build:3). PPA distribution is still based on 2 packages ReportBuilder +
ReportBuilder-bin, but now RBuilder does open and behave regulary.

Hallo Alex/Robert.

I did install LO 4.4.5.2 32bit downloaded from TDF/LO site; this was done
without removing the ppa installation.

Forcing start from /opt/libreoffice4.4/program/soffice.
After opening the odb, Reportbuilder is starting normally. 
For me the item is solved, will try to report it to Ubuntu ppa bug platform.
