I just added ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-5-0 and am now on:

   Version: 5.0.4.2
   Build ID: 1:5.0.4~rc2-0ubuntu1~wily1
   Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8) 

... and the problem seems to be fixed (fingers X'd  :)  - Thanks.

ps. will someone tell the Ubuntu repository custodians?

Sorry, return from hol => head-on car crash and 2+ months in Intensive Care!

Just updated Ubuntu to 15.10 Inc LO 5.0.2.2 Build ID: 00m0(Build:2),
Locale:en-GB.

...and it's still losing text in multi-column nested frames. Resetting font
restores the 'invisible' text.
I guess I'll have to revert to LO 4.* for magazine production until fixed.

Thank you for your quick response. 

Settings are as per default i.e.  'Use OpenGL = not enabled / not 'ticked'

Draft magazine up-loaded to 
http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=8343342733533775 (see page 19), first
attempt failed because oversize (10.9MB)

I tried to copy and paste the offending page into a new (smaller) document, but
the text then appeared just fine. 

Odd. Fickle. Annoying.

Reset to 'UNCONFIRMED'

Confirmed that on page 19 I could make invisible text appear by selecting the
empty part of the column and changing the font.

It is indeed a regression, as v. 4.3.0.1 displays the text just fine on
opening.

If it helps:

The magazine is populated by cutting and pasting articles from a variety of
contributors' emails.  Page 19 I recall came from an 'ODT' file which I suspect
was Microsoft Word generated.

P19 is an instance, but I have seen it occur on other articles too (probably
pasted from 'Doc' or DOCX')

I can forward original author's file if needed/useful.

As it worked in 4.3, the code change that caused the bug can be located with

You may have noticed that I added the whiteboard bibisectRequest. This will
help active bibisecters in finding this report.

As you had a slight suspicion about video, do you have this enabled or
disabled: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use OpenGL for all rendering?

We would need an example document to examine.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the document.
