I confirm that after uninstalling the kde-integration .deb, LO 5.1 behaves like
LO 5.0 again.

There is no difference in implementation. 5.1 for the first time comes with the
KDE4 integration plugin which seems to have this bug, while the gtk2 plugin
that used in 5.0 doesn't. You can still use the gtk2 plugin by either exporting
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk, or simply uninstalling the KDE integration .deb package.

IMHO a duplicate of Bug 92114.
