Pff.. the settings do actually work.. you only need to quite LibreOffice and
relaunch..

Secondly: the settings Autoformat styles do affect the sidebar too.. so if you
disable everything for say Red.. Press OK. Quite LibreOffice. and restart.. and
try red using the sidebar.. nothing appears

The white motif shape icons on the sidebar of the 7.0 Start Center

Recent branding artwork for 7.0 includes a set of White motif shape icons under
the StartCenter's sidebar.

Look nice, but when the os/DE UI is scaled the icons are not being scaled with
the LibreOffice UI.

Seems to need different handling.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc

Description:
In LibreCalc, there is a bug in the markdown used within comments. Any
hyphenated word will remove all hyphens and will stirke-through the whole
comment.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on any cell
2. Click "Insert Comment"
3. Write any sentence with a hyphen, e.g., "-15: Temperature needed for
cool-down"

Actual Results:
Notice how the first hyphen before "15" is removed, the hyphen between "cool"
and "down" is removed, and the whole line is marked as strike-through.

Expected Results:
A comment that just says "-15: Temperature needed for cool-down" with no bold,
italics, or strike-through in the comment whatsoever.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132379] DOC: Image in footer creates a problem

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132379

Created attachment 161047
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=161047=edit
Image overlapping text before entering a letter

I was able to reproduce this issue under the following steps:

1. Opened the example file.
2. Reduced the zoom to 90% or lower. At this point the text went between the
image.
3. Clicked on the image, on a row that had text. Nothing happened.
4. Inserted a letter. That particular row appeared over the image.
5. Clicked on the image, on a row in-between paragraphs, that had no text. The
image was selected.
6. Inserted a letter. As the image was selected, the letter was not introduced.
The background footer image overlapped with the text.

Actual result:
After reducing the zoom of the page below 100%, the image was displayed on top
of the text. The text below the image is no longer seen.
Clicking then typing on the image:
- for rows with text: the single row is displayed over the image;
- for rows with no text: the image is selected, the text is not added.

Expected result:
The footer image is not expected to be displayed over the text when zooming
out, it should remain in the background.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133203] New: FORMATTING, EDITING: LibreCalc autocorrects dashes after numbers

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133203

Bug ID: 133203
Summary: FORMATTING, EDITING: LibreCalc autocorrects dashes
after numbers
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ammar.ja...@alumni.stonybrook.edu

Description:
LibreCalc will incorrectly autocorrect any cell that has the form "X-" to "-X"
where X is any number. In Tools > AutoCorrect Options there is no way to remove
this behavior.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on any cell
2. Write any number followed by a single hyphen, e.g., "55-"

Actual Results:
The cell autocorrects to "-55"

Expected Results:
The cell category does not change to Number and the cell shows "55-"

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
This is a low priority bug as one can get around this by appending the cell
with an apostrophe, e.g., "'55-". The larger issue here is there is no way to
change the default behavior.

We always provide different ways to access a function..
Yes, didn't question that... Bu four way's maybe a little overblown..

* A context depended textbox formatting toolbar
* Sidebar
* Regular formatting toolbar
* Right click context menu

Not seeing the net worth for context depended formatting toolbar..

In this situation you cannot use any but the context menu since the form
control is not in design mode.

-> Not sure what you're saying here

In design mode..
* Default toolbar disabled
* No right click menu
* No formatting in the sidebar
* No context dependend textbox formatting toolbar

With design mode disabled
* A context depended textbox formatting toolbar
* Sidebar formatting toolbar (enabled)
* Regular formatting toolbar (enabled)
* Right click context menu

The only way to set the font/font size for textbox is Right Click formatting
menu. Even the context depended toolbar does not work [but that's not exactly
the scope of this bug..)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133193] New: QA bugs nuances

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133193

Bug ID: 133193
   Summary: QA bugs nuances
   Product: QA Tools
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: james.adams.5...@gmail.com

I was amazed at the question and, most importantly, quite disappointed that I
was unable to find an excellent answer.
But it made me think. And that prompted me to research and exchange ideas with
others in the bug reporting world.
And today I am happy and ready to answer this question. Here
https://www.wowessays.com/ are the most important bug reporting skills you
need.
Knowledge, workflows and skills.
Reporting and tracking bugs requires a specific set of skills that are quite
different from those required in other areas such as design or development.
Over the years, we have learned a lot about the excellent workflows, tools and
bug reporting frameworks, but few have addressed the issue of bug reporting
skills.

The reason why quality control requires a particular type of profile is that it
is the only part that is in the middle of the software development matrix, in
collaboration with and between developers, designers, product managers, users
and customers.
If you think about the role of quality control and bug reporting, you can think
of an intermediary. The intermediary is the one who is in contact with the
alpha and beta testers and the customers. The people in QA and in test are
those who have to tell the web developer to change (correct) their code.
And when the situation demands, they are also the ones who tell web designers
that their design is not intuitive enough for end users.
bug reporting skills for qa agents
They communicate with the product team and make sure they are on the right
track to fix existing bugs. All of these people have different programs and it
is up to the quality assurance officer to make sure everyone is aligned and
knows what needs to be done.
Quality assurance officers, testers, or bug reporters (whatever you call them)
must speak more than one language. They basically need to understand how the
whole product works (to some extent).
So what are the great bug reporting skills you should have?

1. You must have great technological skills

bug reporting skills like Sherlock Holmes As a tester, you are hired to support
certain software or products. You are the one who follows every little step,
every little clue. You are tracking bugs. You are Sherlock Holmes.
It really takes great technology and development skills to find bugs, document
them, and provide a full description of how to make them reproducible. You
should at least be a little familiar with the different programming languages
used to develop the product and with the basic configuration of the systems
used.
I'm not saying you have to be a developer genius, certainly not. But you must
have a basic understanding of front-end and back-end technologies. You need
this understanding to be able to speak with the developers responsible for
solving the problems you have discovered.

2. You must be good at communication
So much money has been and continues to be lost due to miscommunication.
It is so easy to guide a development team in the wrong direction by simply
having a terminology mismatch or mismanagement of expectations.
That said, when a quality assurance agent or tester finally has information, he
should be willing to ask questions of the developers when questions need to be
asked.
 Managing ambiguity is essential.
Otherwise, you will have entire teams going on a wild geese hunt, trying to
identify or recreate a bug.
It also means that a good quality assurance officer doesn't care about reaching
out to people and engaging in open conversation.

3. You must be a diplomat

It is always difficult to find and highlight the mistakes of others using
https://www.google.com/. Doing this as a tester or bug reporter means that you
need to be able to work with these people effectively. It also means being able
to get the job done even if it means having to deal with a little resistance
and cranking here and there.
Nobody likes bugs and nobody likes to find them. Establishing a culture of
open-mindedness of trial and error is absolutely essential here.
It doesn't help point the finger at your developers for certain bugs or errors.
It just doesn't work.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133194] New: Commandline update and serial print of form letter

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133194

Bug ID: 133194
Summary: Commandline update and serial print of form letter
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gti...@gmail.com
Blocks: 103266

Commandline headless options are great and versatile.
What's missing is update and print form letter.
That would be useful for usage but also for LO QA and bug triage.

Update (yes, no) if file contains links to external data is analogous to GUI
question. No should be default.

GUI also also asks whether to print form letter / serial print / mail merge.
That's missing now, current print command --pt will just print document as
seen.

Form letter offers options to print all records or selection but all is fine.
Form letter can print to printer or to file.
Printer is more simple, no need for additional arguments and just option --form
would be nice.
Print to file has options single or individual files, location.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117463] Create a Dialog that shows up on first boot of Writer/Calc/Impress for the user to pick its default UI

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117463

(In reply to Rizal Muttaqin from comment #15)

> From what I see in many comments/discussions in many places in the Internet,
> many people does not aware this options while they complains no Ribbon UI in
> LibO.
>

Please, we do not have a Ribbon UI and we never will, we have MUFFIN and one of
its features is the 'Notebook Bar' in one of its UI implementations. And we
expect/hope to additional MUFFIN function -- notably tabbed documents (bug
33173) and a multi-document interface (MDI) (bug 37134), with our existing "New
Window" multi-window document view getting some love, and a mode for better
side-by-side.

>
> Honestly I dont get it what is the point of maintanaibility, we can say

>

That is part of my concern, features get taken to a certain point and
development stalls, or the feature just rots away--e.g. review the history for
the 'Navigation Toolbar' (bug 115817 - GSoC 2009). Or the 'Visual Editor' mode
of the sm Math module (bug 88744 - GSoC 2010). How would you write internal UI
to guide a user to configure those features?

> This dialog would be a more added value to tell user about what we have in
> the UI/UX far away then let me say (with all due respect to the creator)
> Tips of the Day dialog.

Not really, a pop-up dialog or entries on the Warning bar can never be an
adequate substitute for documenting the rich set of UI features in an active
(on-line or local) contextual help system. Supplemented by TDF's well authored
Guide books and topic specific guides, e.g. Bruce Byfields 'Designing with
LibreOffice'.

Restoring the tag function to the "New Help" (bug 118148) would allow
targeted/contextual tip based help. We do not "need" a bloated dialog/wizard
for guided configuration of the UI.

>
> So my take is 1000+ to this feature request.

No sorry, it just does not fit/belong in the UI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133196] New: Voice recording for Impress

2020-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133196

Bug ID: 133196
   Summary: Voice recording for Impress
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: werne...@gmx.at

Description:
It would be nice, if one could record a comment using the "Media Playback"
toolbar. In times of a pandemic disease it is even more interesting to extend
presentations with audio comments. The proposed enhancement would make it
easier, since one would not need to use two programs simultaneously. Powerpoint
offers such a feature.

Actual Results:
I asked for a new feature. See "description".

Expected Results:
I asked for a new feature. See "description".

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Can you give me the exact commit when it worked in 6.0?

I tried Win 6.0 repo and was unable to find a commit where it worked. Tried
oldest, master, then git checkout HEAD~500 from master, twice.

That is correct behavior. The font sizes are element in a list box.

Down roll of mouse-wheel moves down the list box entries, Up roll of
mnouse-wheel moves up the list box entries.

That is distinct from behavior in spin box widgets, where roll Up will
increase, and roll Down will decrease the spinner.

Sorry they should be all general LO. I had been clearing out a backlog of
defects from clients and was under the impression headless was a needed
command. Sorry about that.

Yes, I did search for existing defects however with the giant influx of bugs in
our backlog, while triaging the defects , some may have been missed as I went
through a lot of defects. Again, sorry for an inconvenience that may have
caused.
