[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128502] Not possible to use the multitasking feature of iOS 13.x

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128502

Now back on this task. After (hopefully) now having most of the work done in
the generic Online code and its iOS-specific parts to have multiple documents
open at the same time (disregarding potential performance issues etc), I now
then notice that there are lots of problems in the core LibreOffice code when
you have multiple documents open in the same LibreOfficeKit-using process. In
the (vain) hope that the famous "somebody else" might be interested in having a
look and fix it, too, I modified gtktiledviewer to also allow opening multiple
documents at the same time: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/94980 .
(It, too, fails badly, and even crashes then.) In retrospect, I should have
started with this modification to gtktiledviewer and on making that work.

RegEx with * in the text input and page style checked... sounds weird too.

"RegEx with * in the text input and page style checked... sounds weird too.

Yes.

I think the idea I outlined in my initial request is both natural, easy to use,
and exactly matches what is currently done for finding Paragraph Styles:

I would expect the Find drop-down list to be populated with the applied page
styles (i.e. those in use) in the document, to allow you to select one.

There would also be an obvious follow-on enhancement of allowing the Replace
field to be populated with available page styles, and if Replace is clicked,
the chosen page style is applied (as far as that's possible).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133439] New: Character styles break Find and replace using attributes Font+size

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 133439
Summary: Character styles break Find and replace using
attributes Font+size
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

  Reporter: luke.kend...@gmail.com

Created attachment 161331
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=161331=edit
Sample document

If you turn on regexp in the F panel and use the Attributes... to select
Georgia font and Size 10, the searches mostly fail. This is extremely
counter-intuitive to this user.

See the attached document: the above search fails to find any of the 10pt
Georgia text in the chapter labelled "22". It does find the 10pt Georgia text
on the Imprint page ("National Library" etc.).

I did manage to get it to find one piece of text on the "22" page, but only the
once, and couldn't get it to find the text again.

The problem appears to be that assigning a character style to text makes it
invisible to the F even when the search should find it based on the criteria
provided.

Please see the attached sample document.

It seems paradoxical that the use of styles is encouraged in LibreOffice, but
if you use them to define a character style (in this case, "Whisper"), it makes
text in that font+size unfindable via the tools provided: you can't search for
a character style, and you can't find such text by the font features in
the F panel.

Example file with too long line

I kept the cover, as this is style "first page", so I did not change the
structure of the document.
See on page 1, the line starting with "Prices...", for years it's been in one
line.
It is also visible on page 3, same line, it's different point of the offer.

So we have around 17 such pages which now have one line more in due to "new
rendering".

Commands are:

'To Next Sheet' -- + or + -- .uno:JumpToNextTable

or

'To Previous Sheet' -- ++ or + --
.uno:JumpToPrvTable

Current movement between sheets is consistent and expected. The Cell holding
focus on sheet is maintained moving sheet to sheet.

+ is available to reposition focus to the A1 cell on active sheet.

See no reason to change.

IMHO => NAB, and WF as enhancement.

A TextField of type DateTime inserted into the Header or Footer of a PageStyle

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133300] Please add the ability to search for Page Styles

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133300

IMO, actually extending the "Paragraph Style" checkbox to be a "style "checkbox
with a drop-down with "Paragraph/Character/List/Page/..." selection really
makes sense. Just documenting that with "search for Page style" is meant
searching for paragraphs defining usage of those styles...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127476] Rounding behaviour of YEAR and SECOND function is inconsistent

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127476

sorry, i'm not convinced ...

there are two to three overall targets:

- excel conmpatibility,

- obeying standards,

just installed ex$el 2010 winx64 for a countercheck, results: year 2000, second
0, (month 1, day 1, hour 0, minute 0),

calc: year 1999, second 0, (month 12, day 31, hour 23, minute 59),

if calcs results are required by a standard ...

- change that standard, or

- produce results which are not! 59,9 seconds off,

(as @Eike said: 'Yes rounding SECOND() is odd, complains go to Excel', but then
either avoid ex$el behaviour, or copy it in full, not copy the odd thing reg.
'compatibility' and leave out the corrections necessary to deal with the crap)

if it's not possible to meet both targets (compatibility and standard)
something must decide ... imho 'usability', a program should work in a way and
produce results which are correct for and can be handeled by 'normal' users,
without exotic unversity grade to be happy about their special fp-knowledge.
for those users it's 'not so easy' to accept arbitrarely choosen different
handling of similar things, neither to understand the resulting calculation
errors.

either 'wall clock standard', a wall clock does not! show '00' for the seconds
at 59:59,9 minutes, it shows 59 seconds till the minute is full (as it shows 59
for the minute till the hour is full), OR! intelligent rounding, but no
mix-mess.

(a friend of mine often quoted: 'either consquent or inconsequent, but not this
or that as you like!')

the 'wall clock standard' is especially made for those stupid users who'd have
problems with rounded minutes? then we ought to give them 'wall clock standard'
for seconds too. and of course for milliseconds, microseconds, nanoseconds and
so on.

how do caesium clocks tick in their last digit? rounding?

or! we have to stick to compatibility, and round up.

excels results are kohärent within themself? and users can calculate with them,

former behaviour of calc was consistent in itself? and users could calculate
with the results?

and now we have something that fits to a 'standard', but breaks calculations in
a spreadsheet and nags users ... ??? that's not real progress.

rounding in stepped 'place value' systems with circulr iteration of the digits
is 'not so easy', you have to care for the carry, but 'the standard' is to take
the unrounded basic value, e.g. wednesday for '=weekday(43831,6;1)'? or 1 as a
answer to 'give me the tens digit of 315,6 please'?

if anyone (calc) deviates from that standard it should have good reasons, and
results consistent within themself. ex$el deviates in a consistent way, calc is
indifferent and deviating.

Would also think it's by design. While some use cases may require to stick to
the selected cell, the majority wants to keep the last position per sheet. So
you better put a few lines of code together in a macro that gather the
currently active cell, executes the next/previous sheet command, and focus the
same cell. Shouldn't be too hard- and we have a cool macro team that is eager
to help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132891] Typing before a formatted word does not formatting but it does when word is at beginning of the line

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #6)
> So if the DF or CS has no DF/CS before we continue to
> before/left, otherwise we keep the formatting after/right.

That won't work. Besides the awful idea to multiply special cases, the idea of
"no DF/CS before" is wrong. E.g., on platforms where system input language is
taken into account (Windows = >90% users), every keyboard layout switch changes
the language - that is DF.

Just DON'T do that. Typing should always continue what's to the left, unless
there's nothing to the left. That's consistent, and doesn't need any
special-casing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133294] FILESAVE EPUB Enhancement for styles with page breaks

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133294

I also doubt that a heading would be followed by a page break. But, the Writer
styles allow break before and break after. And, there is a one-to-one
relationship between Writer's break before/after and EPUB's
page-break-before/after: always;

Since it's such a direct match, it seems like it would be trivial to add both
cases rather than trying to guess what users are going to try.

A table in table with a minimum row height.doc

Comment 0's example document is a table-in-table-in-table nightmare. However,
my simple example document shows that I can't ignore minimum row height simply
because it is table-in-table. Too bad.

LO could open a version that was first round-tripped by Word 2003, but that
isn't really important. But it suggests that this just happens to trigger a
layout state that LO can't handle. I'm not sure what to do or try next.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132028] LO 6.3.x/6.4.x No Menu and Very Slow Keyboard with GTK3 VCL

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132028

Just confirming that my upgrade to libreoffice-6.4.3.2 generated this bug of
the missing menu bar. With prior versions of libreoffice, I got around the bug
by prefixing the libreoffice command with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk or
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen. However, with libreoffice-6.4.3.2, neither worked. I use
Gentoo and don't use a DE; I just have dwm as my window manager.

Re-emerging dbus with "USE=X" helped. For non-Gentoo folks, that means making
sure dbus is compiled with added support for X11. I'm using dbus-1.12.16 as of
this writing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133464] New: use of getSheets() in macro throws error

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133464

Bug ID: 133464
Summary: use of getSheets() in macro throws error
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: hrh...@msn.com

Use a macro to access sheets. Text of macro follows.
REM * BASIC *

Sub Main

End Sub

Function ReturnSheetName(Optional nSheet)
 If IsMissing(nSheet) Then
 ReturnSheetName =
ThisComponent.getCurrentController.getActiveSheet.getName()
 Else
 ReturnSheetName = ThisComponent.getSheets().getByIndex(nSheet-1).getName()
 EndIf
 End Function

 function number_of_sheets()
number_of_sheets = ThisComponent.Sheets.Count
 end function

When the spreadsheet is opened error messages are thrown:

BASIC runtime error.
An exception occurred
Type: com.sun.star.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException
Message: .

BASIC runtime error.
Property or method not found: getSheets.

By clicking on the "Ok" box of the error message window every time it appears,
the spreadsheet will eventuall open.

Then, CTRL+f9 in the cells showing error will fix everything and the desired
result is achieved.

If the macro eventually works, why the errors when the spreadsheet is opened?

cell contents (of cell B10), call to getSheets:

=RETURNSHEETNAME(ROW()-8)

used for (contents of adjacent cell, C10):
=INDIRECT("$'"&"'"&".$E$4")

The idea is to avoid having to type in the sheet names, and pull values from
the desired sheet.

As it happens I am presently reviewing the section in the pending 6.4 Calc
guide detailing keyboard shortcuts.

The 6.4 Guide states only that CTL + Pg Up goes to next sheet (if there is one)
and CTL+Pg Down goes the the previous page. No mention of 'same cell'.

(In reply to Regina Henschel from comment #34)
With such restriction in save to "ODF 1.3
> strict" LibreOffice would still not render conform to the spec text (=
> draw:fill in a style disables and
> ), but at least the produced documents would contain
> valid XML.

I was wrong in this regard. The draw:fill attributes are used, and neither
nor . That works in LO 6.4.5 with
ODF 1.3 format too.

But saving to "ODF 1.2 strict" writes the draw:fill attributes into
too. That should not happen for the "strict"
file formats. Only in "ODF 1.2 extended" and "ODF 1.2 compatible" the faulty
attributes should be written. Not using loext for "ODF 1.2 extended" is already
a concession to older LibreOffice versions, so "ODF 1.2 strict" should be
correct.

Just tried it. That workaround DOES work! Thank you.

Tried it agian to verify that it is still crashing if I revoke Full Disk
Access. So granting it seems to be what fixes the issue. I don't understand
this OS well enough to know the security risks involved in granting full disk
access, so I'll be keeping it turned off when I'm not actively converting old

Printing to paper is where the problem becomes visible, and that's despite
using different printers, different brands of printer, different models of
printer, and different paper basis weights (20-lb. and 24-lb.) and printing in
different store chains, in different weeks, and from different files. The
problem is not visible in the ODT file, the PDF as viewed in my laptop, or
either printer's screen preview. But it happens on ordinary white paper with no
distinct texture, from the same flash drive (Transcend), and using the same
font in a small font size in the header (it does not occur in the body and I
don't use the footer).

Is there a special translation available for this Benjamin..

Typing before formatted text at the beginning of a paragraph inherents
formatting from the formatted text. And typing before formatted text somewhere
else doesn't and both cases are the correct behavior?

That *not* true. There are cases of typing before where formatted is applied
.. Starting of paragraph/text in table cell. Follow the steps in comment 0.
That's the point of the whole bug. The bug wasn't intended as an enhancement
request :-).

My major concern: current behavior isn't consistent.. because there are cases
where it happens. If this shouldn't happen, it's bug too.. That's why I added
Heiko.. as I can't tell what it should be.. And if you ask me, what 'should it
be' yes, typing before should get formatting.. But if the LibreOffice 'way' is
not doing so (what the reason might be), also OK, but be at least consistent..

So there is a bug in one way or another..

I'm not sure what to do or try next.

yeah ... with reference it's much clearer ...

your version is more recent ... but the guide is changed without changing the
program? -> find the author of the guide, ask him why ...

as current behaviour is quite easier for users i'd suggest enh. request, change
guide.

Are you simply ignoring the text above that you quote? There's no "typing
before", there's "typing after". Typing after any text continues its
formatting. No exceptions. If you try to extend it to "typing before and
after", you suddenly loose that "after", because it becomes before something
else. And you would need to create different - and more complex - rules for
Benjamin.

Sounds a bit like 132025 (however not noticing a language pack..)

A workaround is - probably - to grant LibreOffice Full Disk Access in Security
