Could confirm the buggy behavior with LO 7.5.2.2 on OpenSUSE 15.4 64bit rpm
Linux. Bug will also appear with LO 5.1.5.2 (oldest version I have installed
here). So might be it is inherited from OOo. Have set the Version to LO
5.1.5.2.

Note: It will only happen when a cell in the row has been splitted horizontally
and there is a page break inside the row.

Request is twofold, a) ellipsis as one character, b) ellipsis with larger
spacing.

Depending on the journal you want to change the type, it must not break with
lines, and should be easy to apply. For a) it was suggested to use the auto
replacement function (could be the replacement table or even auto text) but I
can also imagine to use the special character and/or search/replace function.
In case of b) I'd suggest to use a character style with larger spacing. For
example 5pt, and what you type as three consecutive dots will look like dots
with spaces.

Does this work for you? Please consider that we have to find general solutions
and while it might seem as a workaround for you this should be the approach to
make everyone happy.

The basic question I guess, aside from any other UI considerations, would be
whether stuff written in Swift, which is released under the Apache 2.0 licence,

I made the use case wider with the idea to either send an individual message to
anyone with one by one email or kind of use LibreOffice as email editor and
send one message to everyone. Ultimately it would be a combined Merge Mail and
Send as Email function.

Very valid questions. To support open source I'd be happy if the function was
limited to Thunderbird for now.

Looks like the rendering of this example has changed with MSO 2013.
Before only the transparency was considered, since 2013 the color and the
transparency are both considered. LO is compatible with the latter.

I think it's a NAB at this point, considering even newer MSO renders it
differently.

Nice work!

A few points though...

* The diagonal stripes pattern is too "bold" IMHO. I'd consider decreasing its
strength, e.g. by a transparency like effect, i.e. stripe color = eps *
original color + (1 - eps) * black.
* Repeating my question about controlling the color palette
* Will it be possible to highlight only _some_ of the styles?

The shape in bug 104671 is a VML shape. In my example the shape is an ordinary
OOXML shape with prst="cloud". The error here is, that it is not imported as
custom shape although the preset type is known. If it were imported as "cloud",
the rendering would be correct. The shape in bug 104671 has no preset type.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154857] New: when switching between application colors, formula content does not update

2023-04-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154857

Bug ID: 154857
Summary: when switching between application colors, formula
content does not update
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: simonmik2...@gmail.com

When switching between light and dark modes in a LibreOffice document, be it
writer or impress and calc when switching to dark from light, the text in the
formula does not change with the theme.

it is quite important for printing. because when you
print/(print-to-a-file/export-as-pdf) it switches over to light theme, and
because the formula does not update, it prints with the formula "missing".
causing great pain to students rushing to get their assignment delivered in
time.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96413] Basic ConvertToURL fails to URL encode many characters (see comment 18)

2023-04-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96413

(In reply to Andreas Säger from comment #0)

Just to expand the last comment.

RFC 8089 [1] sect. 2 defines 'file' URL as:

> file-URI = file-scheme ":" file-hier-part
>
> file-hier-part = ( "//" auth-path )
>/ local-path
>
> auth-path = [ file-auth ] path-absolute
>
> local-path = path-absolute
>
> file-auth = "localhost"
>/ host

with the explanation "importing the "host" and "path-absolute" rules from
[RFC3986] (as updated by [RFC6874])".

RFC 3986 defines them this way:

> host = ...
> path-absolute = "/" [ segment-nz *( "/" segment ) ]
> segment = *pchar
> segment-nz= 1*pchar
> pchar = unreserved / pct-encoded / sub-delims / ":" / "@"
> pct-encoded = "%" HEXDIG HEXDIG
> unreserved= ALPHA / DIGIT / "-" / "." / "_" / "~"
> sub-delims= "!" / "$" / "&" / "'" / "(" / ")"
> / "*" / "+" / "," / ";" / "="

And finally, ALPHA, DIGIT, and HEXDIG are defined in RFC 2234 in an obvious
way.

The scheme [1] is known both in Basic's ConvertToURL, and in Python's
uno.systemPathToFileUrl, as mentioned in comment 18, simply because the
functions are defined to convert system path to file URL.

The system path characters are converted to characters of the URL's
'file-hier-part'; more precisely, to 'path-absolute', because 'file-auth' is
not applicable to system-path-to-URL conversion (the auth information is not
available in the system path). Further, I omitted the 'host' part, because the
issue did not consider "hosted" system paths, like UNC, so this allows to avoid
additional complexity (which doesn't change anything, just clutters the text).

Now let us consider the issue character by character:

> Problem occurs with characters
> !
> $
> &
> '
> (
> )
> *
> +
> ,
> =

All the above are 'sub-delims', explicitly allowed in 'pchar', which constitute
both 'segment' and 'segment-nz' of 'path-absolute'.

> /

This one is explicitly shown as the character delimiting segments in
'path-absolute'. Both Linux filesystems, and Windows filesystems use this
character as hierarchy delimiter, so whenever it appears in the source path, it
gets "converted" to itself in the resulting URL.

> :
> @

These two are allowed explicitly in 'pchar'.

> ConvertToURL correctly encodes the follwing characters:
>
> "
> {
> |
> }

These are not listed at all among the "very limited set", from which URIs
consist (RFC 3986 sect. 1.2.1; Appendix a), so it must be percent-encoded.

> \

This one gets converted to "/" on Windows, since it's a hierarchy separator
there; on Linux, it behaves the same as the five above.

> %

This is the character used in 'pct-encoded'; and its conversion is explicitly

These are 'gen-delims' that aren't explicitly mentioned as allowed in the
'path-absolute' components.

> ;

And this one is interesting. It is part of 'sub-delims', so in theory, could
stay as is. Interestingly, both INetURLObject [2] and
osl_getFileURLFromSystemPath [3] (which are used in Basic and Python,
respectively), percent-encode it. The most likely reason is that the previous
version of the "Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI): Generic Syntax" standard,
RFC 2396, didn't allow that character there.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154853] New: FILESAVE PPTX Order of radial gradients steps is reversed

2023-04-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154853

Bug ID: 154853
Summary: FILESAVE PPTX Order of radial gradients steps is
reversed
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kelem...@ubuntu.com
CC: armin.le.gr...@me.com

Created attachment 186708
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=186708=edit
Example file from PP with 5 color steps

Attached file contains a circle shape with multi color gradients.

Opening this is now supported in master with MCGR_TEST=0 environment. The 5
color steps are imported correctly.
Saving this however reverses their order.

1. Open attached file with MCGR_TEST=0 instdir/program/soffice
2. Save as PPTX, reopen it in PP

-> The blue and white color steps and the green and yellow ones swap places.

Please add the version, special Build-ID, of LO you are using on Linux Mint
Debian.
This version is old. It won't get any bugfixes. So try a newer version like LO
7.5.2.2 directly from LO.

Please add an example to test for others with newer versions of LO. So we could
see if this bug could be reproduced with current version downloaded from LO.

Clear reason why the change was beneficial. You see what slide is the active
and get feedback on cursor movement and list selection. If you take a closer
look you will see the frame around the current slide/page if you deselect it
from the sorter list.

Do you think we should change the design somehow? I'm against reducing the
functionality and going back to SO8 times without proper feedback.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50420] EDITING: Formulas in Writer disappear / get garbled

2023-04-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50420

I can totally relate to this issue, it's really frustrating when you have to
retype the whole formula again and again because it gets garbled or replaced
with something else. This problem seems to occur when copying and pasting
formulas and editing them in a big Writer document. It's strange that there
isn't a specific set of instructions to reproduce the problem, but I appreciate
the effort to provide some steps. It's also interesting that sometimes an older
version of the formula or something from a different object is displayed
instead of the correct one. Online writing services:
https://top20writingservices.com/

I hope you were able to update your LibreOffice version and see if the problem
is resolved. If not, you could try searching the LibreOffice bug tracker or
forums to see if anyone else has reported this issue or if there are any
workarounds. Thank you for sharing your experience with this bug, it's
important for the community to be aware of these issues and find solutions
together.

The example file saved to DOCX with current master

attachment 118734 from bug 94238 is a compatibiltiymode 14 docx, with some
drawing shapes in a table.
When this is saved as docx, then reopened in Word, all shapes are placed in the
first cell of the column.

1. Open attachment 118734
2. Save as docx, open it in Word

-> All shapes are in the first cells of the columns on top of each other.

This is because now the "Layout in table cell" box is unchecked. Checking it
places the shapes back to the correct location.
