[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87040] Floating toolbar feature request

oh and one more thing, might as well reduce mouse click, i mean just hovering
above the icon or tab will make the rest of the specific floating toolbar
appear. I hope there really is a program within the community to reduce mouse
clicks in programs.. =)

Thank you very much for response, you all are great... i hope i can contribute
in programming, but i am not yet that good.

Well, lucky u.

Toolbar can also be placed inside another toolbar (example is: Graphic Filter
toolbar in Picture toolbar) like what is shown below:

http://imgur.com/luYTlyL

So i guess if you can just define a custom toolbar that will be the handle of
floated toolbars, then we're good to go. so lets say we call this floatbar,
and attached to this floatbar are the standard toolbars like formatting,
picture, drawing etc. and any toolbar we detached from dock and we decide to
include in the floatbar, then such toolbar will attach to the floatbar... so
you can still have the option to have indepent floating toolbars, while all
your other floated toolbars are accessible through the floatbar

The only thing to add would be that it appears in proximity to your selected
object. and hover over icon activates the attached toolbar. and please remove
the titlebar. =)

Bumping for UX-advise

My thoughts as in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87021#c3

Agree items 1) 2) that Date on the about dialog on release builds would alert
a user to how far from current release they are, the EOL alert and timed check
for update suggestion might be useful.

Reject item 3) as clutter, item 4) not an issue.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 86803] RFE: Don’t add space between paragraphs in autocorrect options

2014-12-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86803

--- Comment #4 from mahfiaz mahf...@gmail.com ---
Is is by no means an Autocorrect option, but a style option as tommy27
pointed out.

I have felt the need for something like this myself (I'd prefer a way more
complex version where you could also reduce space between substyles of the same
style or just have different margins for different sets of styles).

But this boils down to whether or not ODF standard for odt documents has
specified it or not. If not, then there is no way we would describe such a
made-up property and ruin the look of documents in other standard compliant
.odt viewers (not that there are many, but still). If this is the case we would
first have to get it approved in a future version of ODF.

That said, I am no expert of that standard and maybe it is defined and just not
implemented.

Kendy stated in a previous design meeting that the underlines should be removed
to solve this issue, as they werent there previously in the insert table or
line spacing drop downs.

As a Linux user I'd vote down any (especially new) notices about updates etc
for package-managed versions. Let the update reach me through repos when it's
ready.

So I'd count only 1) as desirable, no for 2-4.

Another scenario to consider.

The PPA (Ubuntu Linux, 64-bit) can sometimes lag behind a reasonably stable
release candidate. It is not uncommon for a release candidate to have fixed a
severe bug that warrants upgrading. This means manually installing, rather than
using the package manager.

This can lead to confusion: does installing the latest release remove the old
PPA version? Where are the files installed? There are other uncertainties, but
you get the picture: it's a black box (for many users). (Yes, soffice --version
will give a version number, but that's assuming Linux users are familiar with
the command line, which isn't necessarily true with all the various distros
available.)

By presenting a clear build date in the About box, it is easy to determine
whether or not the latest version is installed correctly and running.
