--- Comment #5 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Agree with the suggestion to reposition the vertical scroll bar and attach to
the outer edge of the frame where it would benefit from activation using its
infinite size. I.e. reposition outboard of the current default Sidebar
attachment.

But IMHO perceive no compelling reason to also reposition Sidebar to left edge
of frame. Neither is there a requirement to attach Sidebar to right edge of the
LO frame.

So, in a practical sense believe the Sidebar's Show/Hide toggle would function
equally well if the collapsed position was left of the vertical scroll bar. Its
button is not sensitive to the frame edge, and so must be targeted rather than
swiped.

That works equally well at the frame edge or as suggested inboard of the scroll
bar--which as noted can be swiped into focus.

A reasonable enhancement.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92831] Position vertical scroll bar widget outboard of Sidebar

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92831

--- Comment #6 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbfa...@libreoffice.org ---
This idea to put the scrollbar away from the window it controls, seems strange
to me.
I think it will be more confusing for all users. If a user prefer to have the
sidebar on the left, he can easily configure LO and he have to do that only
once. Please let the things as simple as possible.

I suggest to close this enhancement request as WontFix or NotABug because it
will create a bug.

Best regards. JBF

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 84177] Context menu: “Paste Special” should be combined with “Paste”

(In reply to Dr. Goddard from comment #19)
When doing academic or technical work it is necessary to quote from various
sources. Many publications require that a specific font and format be
used. This requires the use of paste without formatting be an option.
 having the:
-- edit menu achieved witha right click -- to offer this under Paste Special
 would greatly improve efficiency.

Already implemented for 4.4 and the 5.0 release for bug 62947.

There is a Paste, and also a Paste Special combo button with Unformatted text
(which receives Default Style formatting when inserted, but can be easily
formatted as needed), and the More options button launching a Paste Special
dialog.

This somewhat related issue is about GUI change to merge Paste Special with a
Paste combo button.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92027] Hyperlink: No right click option for the selected word

2015-07-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #8 from Heiko Tietze heiko.tie...@user-prompt.com ---
I'm stuck at APA4 (studied psychology and wrote thesis and papers). Looking
through the web I cannot prove your hyperlink at reference statement (cf.
http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2011/12/should-hyperlinks-be-used-in-apa-style.html).
But anyway, you convinced me to about 50% that interactive hyperlinks in
documents make sense to provide easy means for interconnection.

I still wouldn't put the 'add hyperlink' item into the default context menu.
Rather the text 'http://libreoffice.org/' is acknowledged automatically - and
now you get context sensitive functions like 'remove hyperlink' and 'edit
hyperlink' below the (still concise) default items in the menu. Does this work
for you?

The Hyperlink dialog is implemented across the modules and called with the
Ctrl+K shortcut. And when text is selected, it is used as the Text field for
the hyperlink object (of any flavor).

Unfortunately, the context menu for each module presents a Hyperlink object a
bit differently. Writer has Open, Edit, Copy and Remove actions; Calc and
Impress have Open; while Draw shows nothing. And in each module Ctrl-click
opens the hypelinked object.

Draw alone does not provide an Edit - Hyperlink menu entry. So not sure how
one modifies a Hyperlink inserted into an .ODG document.

IMHO, an argument can be made to adjust the context menu for Hyperlink objects
across all modules, to include Open, Edit, Copy and Remove.

And only then, supplementing the Ctrl-K dialog launch to add a context menu
Hyperlink action--activating or appearing when one or more words are
selected--becomes reasonable UI.

But must be consistent across all modules, otherwise removing Hyperlinks from
context menu and using Ctrl-K shortcut, and Edit or Insert menu entries alone
would be the more consistent UI.
