I am not talking about to change the formatting, like the position of rows or
add spaces between rows. I am talking only about the description texts.
As told, when you have table of content with many rows to edit, it is a very
uncomfortable work and it requires many clicks more, to change the texts
jumping to each marked point and then right click, etc... I think that any
common user would found it better.

Well, dynamic toolbars are odd. We will always run into trouble and the only
way to avoid this is a completely new UI. The alternative is to have the search
in the sidebar (there should be a ticket). Agreed with the problem but I don't
see any feasible solution.

> This is my first feature request...

Congratulations! And many thanks for your enhancement ideas.

> 1. Make the Name box resizable, so it can be made larger.

The "name box" as the tooltip calls it is a dropdown control. Those are static
controls, sized for the best fit (e.g. made smaller recently for bug 90487).
There are no means for a dynamical resizing, i.e. a splitter on the right side
where you can adjust the width to your needs (and that would affect all
toolbars).
While suggestion for a solution is great you should always make clear what the
issue is (use case). Guess you cannot read long names, and a (bad) alternative
could be to abbreviate the text with ellipsis.

> 2. Only show names that are applicable to the sheet.

Ideally you add an exemplary sheet for this issue.

> 1. Add a Value column to show the contents of the named variable (Range or
> formula expression).

Sheet > Named Ranges and Expressions > Manage (ctrl+F3); such a column can
become really large and you jump to the position on selection. So what's the
advantage?

Solution could be to protect the master field position (Format > Object and
Shape > Position or F4 or context menu Position) but checking this option in
the master slide is not taken into the presentation.
Second part of the issue is hit test area (also reported to be a problem for
bullets https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2017/10/28/impress-lists/,
see copy/paste). White space is not accepted here but should be as the object

Two issues, IMHO, up to devs to decide.

Color can be defined as automatic which is black on bright backgrounds or white

define styles (or templates in case of Impress) for the variants. Or you write

If there are cases where manual formatting is needed, it is telling us that the
parametric formatting is lacking somehow.

I agree with Heiko that the option to manually do changes should be removed.
Any shortcomings in the parametric formatting should be filed as

It's up to the user to make the right selection, a full word, one normal

Agreed, likewise the ToC where indexed headings are hyperlinks (ctrl+click).

Sounds like a reasonable enhancement.

Today we have View > Track Changes that shows the modifications when checked
(option #1) or just the result (option #2). The checkbox has no effect when no
changes have been made.

We could go with radio buttons
Track Changes >
( ) Original (layout before the changes)
 (o) Modifications (as today with show TC checked)
( ) Final (as today with show TC unchecked)

Was thinking about a checkbox that enables these options but it makes not much
sense to have [x] Show Track Changes with (o) Original below.

And I don't see the need for the option original with modifications as this
just "underlines" the other part, which probably ends up in severe confusion
what option is active.

Weird effect of this new option is that changing the text with TC active and
"original" set would have no effect anymore - you do not see what you type. As
a counter measure we could automatically switch to "modification" when TC is
enabled.

Perfect examples why direct formatting is bad. ;-)

But let's talk about the horizontal ruler added between heading 2 and 3 to
separate the two chapters in the ToC. What happens when the structure changes -
keep the HR between 2-3 or move it to 3-4 if another 2 has been added or remove

break, reduce the spacing of one paragraph, so that the headings of one chapter
fits in one page, ...) For the basic formatting I use paragraph styles.

So perhaps this examples make it more clear what - in my view - manual changes
are about. I wouldn't delete a heading or change a page number manually.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 116699] Add option "Protect manual changes against updating of index"

In my opinion that's a WONTFIX. Let's say you create heading one, two, three
and edit the ToC, to uppercase for example. What should happen when you delete
the second heading? Keep the first letter in an extra line?

I would rather go the other way and disable the manual editing completely. The
help is also not informative with "This protection is not intended to be a
secure protection. It is just a switch to protect the contents against
accidental changes.", which is not a use case for me.

Color is most likely part of the drawing style. It should be this chapter in
