So let's do it. Could be an easyhack since we do update before printing,
hopefully we do.

More complicated even.
Grid is set to invisible in Options. And the file you open does have grid
visible. Now open options, tick Visible and the settings are applied
immediately,

But Resolution and Subdivision are used to change the actual view of an
document too.
So a good topic to think about a clear and usable solution.

The grid settings are view-settings. They are already stored in the file in the
config-items 'GridCoarseWidth', 'GridCoarseHeight', 'GridFineWidth', and
'GridFineHeight'. An existing document is initially shown with the grid, that
is stored in its config-items. But when you turn grid off and then on again,
the settings from Tools > Options are used.

I support to handle the grid per document. It makes sense to have it per
document, because the needed grid depends highly on the size of the document.
The settings in Tools > Options should only be the default for new documents.

Regina, you do create special grids instead of the inbuilt function. Does it
make sense to add this option to the document? Meaning also to remove it from
Tolls > Options > Draw > Grid into a new per-document dialog.

There are bug 92584 and bug 92608 to find objects by properties. I disagree
with the need to _find_ those objects and it wouldn't be a solution for a
selection. But anyway, this request to include size and position into styles is
a WF.

yes styles support for shapes would be awesome, but

first there are no commands available isn't it? (codepointer) and

second the main issue is that you can't use predefined styles for shapes, or at
least it would be way more usefull to have in the context menu the most used
shape styles from the document.

You can install palettes as an extension. And use my extension [1] to export
the custom colors as that. Also, there would be the "Document colors" palette
(but as reported in bug 84577 not working).

IIRC, palettes are sorted now alphabetically in 6.2.

The dialog has hotkeys (alt+B/F/P on the first step) and you can tab through

I propose to stay consistent to what Java Swing and Microsoft does, see there
for the Microsoft way:

- Let tab behavior as it is
- Fix shift tab because shift+tab does the same as tab
- Control + tab would be used to leave the multi-lines elements

OK!
I have looked into the ODF documentation "Open Document Format for Office
Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2, Part 1: OpenDocument Schema, OASIS
Standard, 29 September 2011" and there I have found what Regina Henschel has
written in Comment 4 of Bug 112301: For the attribute text:index-scope are
defined only the both values "chapter" and "document".
The problem would not be to create an index on the level of a lower heading but
to save it in the document - nearly like the problem with "Add value for
Optimal Row Height" in Calc: It is defined and used in LO but not saved in the
document (Bug 108601).
A great pity!

But also when the enhancement of TOC can't be realized my last proposal (insert
a menu item "Update all indces" in the Popup Menu for indices) could be useful
and I think it is not affected from ODF standard.
