Existing documents are not changed on opening.
But yes, if one edits an existing document, the behavior is changed.
This is then something the user has to fiddle out. And to be honest, as far as
I know, not been considered with creating the change.

Of course the choice in bug 113241 was deliberate - allowing the creation of
better default tables by default for all users, preventing people to hassle
with tabs, outline, spaces .. ;|
So my choice would be to leave it as it is now.
A nice blog to get some attention and for easy reference, would be good of
course.

Would be awesome maxim.

The problem is I don't know the internals of libo codebase. If we can work
there together it would be fine.

Easiest would be to have an separate toolbar folder where all the standard and
contextual xml files are located.

Other option one small standard toolbar and right to the small standard all the
contextual xml files. Maybe that can be done within the existing toolbar
folder.

So rather than the current "Single Mode" toolbar, or the current .UI for
Contextual Single notebook bar[1][2]--we'd modify the Contextual Single
Notebook Bar to parse XML from the other Toolbars that can already be
customized/extended? And that becomes the new Single Mode--very MUFFIN! :-)

Hyphenate in Writer calls FN_HYPHENATE_OPT_DLG starting the function
HyphenateDocument() and in Calc SID_ENABLE_HYPHENATION that calls
pTabViewShell->ExecuteCellFormatDlg(rReq, "alignment") (Format Cells dialog at
alignment tab), where you can switch on hyphenation when text is wrapped.
However, if the option switched on for the cell it doesn't toggle the menu
item.

The hyphenation is not defined for Impress/Draw.

I agree with Andreas and we should make the menu entry a non-toggle item in
Calc. And remove it from all other modules. Likely a simple hack.

Hmmn, I can see some appeal to doing this for MUFFIN using a Notebook Bar.
Unfortunately the framework of the Customize dialog has not been expanded to
allow users to conveniently configure any of the Notebook Bar GUI constructs.

Absent a Customize dialog ability to customize the Notebook Bar modes (bug
101513) replacement of the Single Mode toolbar (it is present in Writer, Calc,
Impress adjusted component) would not be good UX.

Is there a UX need to change it now? Not so much, I believe there are other
options offering better UX and clear dev paths. And when customization support
for all MUFFIN framework components (i.e. NB, SideBar, extensions) is
implemented, only then should a Notebook Bar construct be considered viable
replacement for a Toolbar.

Currently the Single Toolbar is fully customizable--the Customize -> Toolbars
target is "Standard (Single Mode)"--which includes addition of context
sensitive button widgets drawn from other context-sensitive toolbars. And it
could be enhanced with framework needed for bug 36976 and bug 106846

Again, IMHO while working with legacy Toolbars of button widgets, to suppress
the UI layout disruption of context-sensitive popup toolbars, implementing a
Sidebar Deck holding a Content Panel packed with context driven toolbar buttons
would be a MUFFIN friendly alternative to the popup toolbars.

Don't like the idea of duplicate styles for every flavor. Dark themes just
don't fit Elementary and we have plenty (okay: some) alternatives like
Breeze_Dark (which IMHO shouldn't be just an inverted icon theme but distinct
and respectively named).

What we also can do is to adjust colors programatically (works only with SVG).
But still I think it's too much trouble. What if I complain about badly
readable icons in my pink system theme? Ship also Breeze, Sifr, Elementary in
green variations? Admittedly, that's goes a bit too far as dark themes are
popular.

I like the idea of having a visual indicator in the document margin to give a
visual feedback of the applied style. Makes it easier to format the document.
However, it's not necessary to copy Microsoft, so I changed the summary a bit.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 124994] Cell Formatting for URL websites, or other URI schemes

2019-04-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124994

The cell style is independent from the cell content and has to be set manually
(subsummizing autoformat or conditional formatting). I doubt we can
automatically assign a style to a cell since styles are variable and
'Hyperlink' is not necessarily defined (although it's hard-coded). [1]
Combining the internal hyperlink formatting (gray background or green font,
depending on the kind of input) has also the risk to clash with the hyperlink
text style

The number format of a cell is never set automatically. You can enter 1.23$ or
"Test" and all becomes a number/general by default. So before we talk about
URIs wouldn't it require those formats?

Extending the number formats by a special kind of text, the hyperlink, sounds
also not possible as we are restricted by the format. Plus, what would that
format contain other than text (left aligned)? Do you have something like
"http://@; in mind?

[1] In fact, ODF has a format,
