[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 101247] Add bulk-save/bulk-close options for documents

2020-12-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101247

I can imagine situations where this is useful, but I think it is telling that
Microsoft, in both the "old" and the ribbon UI, has not made it directly
accessible. If it is an easy enhancement which does not add maintenance burden,
offering as an optional command that users can add themselves might make sense
(which is the same way as MS went in post-2007 MS Office).

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 138846] Add label to "Settings" button in Template Manager and change label to "Categories"

2020-12-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138846

I agree that the label or mouseover text should be categories. To the icon vs.
labeled button I have no particular opinion.

What about moving the gear button up to the upper right corner next to the
categories dropdown? That might at least help semantically a bit, as then the
both category-concerned elements would be next to each other.

2020-12-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Do we have any prior similar solutions for this? I tried at least with two
editors (VSCode and gEdit) and both move on after replacing and have no option
to do so otherwise, I also did not see the function on MS Word Screenshots I
checked. I understand the problem, but I am not convinced that this is worth
adding additional UI elements (or implicit modes).

2020-12-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138285

What do you think about an idea when the user needs to click only one button
again and again?

There could be a checkbox on the dialog:

[X] Show changed text before progress

If this checkbox is unchecked then it works as usually. Otherwise, clicking the
Replace button would work like this:

1. find and highlight the first occurrence
2. replace the selection with the new content and keep it highlighted
3. find and highlight the second occurrence
4. replace the selection with the new content and keep it highlighted
5. find and highlight the third occurrence
...

It also needs some change on the dialog (a new checkbox instead of the
requested new button) but it would be easier to use.

Critical difference: Your Screencast example uses "All Categories"
Presumably CV is in "share" directory while "test" is in "userprofile"
directory.

See screenshot in attachment 168194 -- all in the same Category (directory).

I predict that will resolve the "mystery" -- and then the original report will
make sense.

Please see attached screenshot of a Template Manager.
It should be clear that in that image that Template1 is
selected, rename dialog is open, and just about to
(attempt) to rename Template1 to "temp" (which already
exists in the same category).

When I click OK in that scenario - nothing happens - and
no warning/failure message is given.

There are numerous tickets on this topic. Not sure if bug 137679 helps here but
there are likely other issues that fit the request.

Not a topic for UX anyway since conversion into floating-point values lead to
rounding errors. And Calc offers functions to deal with this.

Always good to have a clear scenario and workflow. Something like "I'm a
teacher and prepare tests for school. Every task should include the solution
but hidden until... And since my colleagues and me do this hundred times per
day it would be very helpful to have a more easy access to this function."

Nevertheless we also appreciate to challenge how features are realized. But
since developers mostly have a good reason, it's very easy to reject a request.

Three -1, resolving WF. It's very hard to get rid of functions or options once
it has been implemented. So while I agree with simplicity some users may feel
this as a regression. And it's not urgently needed anyway.

Confirmed. Writer still uses the old scheme with Shape1..n and those names are
used in the name dialog. Draw received some love in respect to bug 34828 and
besides the inconsistency in the Navigator interaction it now lost the string
in the name dialog. Minor regression but still worth to fix.

Isn't just a renaming sufficient? Quick proposal: Type => Position and Size (as
we do for shapes; the tab is also used for other objects), Image => Flip and
Rotation (or we keep Image here).

Which makes a valid request, IMHO.

Maybe the number of decimals can be limited for certain clipboard formats.
However it's likely not simply dropping limiting it by 5 decimals but also
rounding involved
