From my point of view, something with USB and PS/2 (I have seen Xin Feng's
PS/2 fix) at the computer, rather than the docking station, would be good
features. I've been wondering about economical alternatives, until the
libretto of your dreams becomes available on the used market.
I've notice the $500 Toshiba Portege 7020CT / Intel Pentium II 366MHz /
128MB / 6.4GB / 13.3 TFT from (no affilitation)Tiger Direct, which
reportedly weighs 4.4 lbs. Seems like a possible compromise.

Hi Larry,

There's the Sony U1 which teases me (apart from me being a cheapskate),
the JVC notebooks which are interesting to say the least, the P2020
or similar... But in the end, the Lib is very useful.

You could add a PCMCIA USB card to the L100 or 110 (NOT the 50 or 70)
and have a travelling USB enabled computer. PS2 can be added with a
bit of ingeniuty, I believe.

Don't give up on the Libby yet :D

Cheers,

Nick.

I'd say if Toshiba brought out something like the PIII (NOT transmeta!) JVC
InterLink (which can do anything the Libretto can, albeit in a slightly
wider and deeper but thinner package) they'd make a killing ... PIII 800,
firewire, sd/mmc, 40 gig, 256MB RAM ... *drool*

I've got details on the PS/2 port mod on my website at www.raybot.net (both
keyboard AND mouse). Also from the information I have, it would appear that
the USB controller is in fact on the Libretto side of the docking station
connector so it would appear that all that's in the docking station for USB
is the line driver (which is why it only works if you plug in the power
supply) ... when I get some more time later on I'll investigate the
possibility of rigging up a circuit to let the libby run USB without the
docking station (although I can see there being problems given that unlike
the L50/70, the L100/110 actually knows if it's docked or not).
