Oh, no it isn't quite the same!

The Japanese have the LOOX T90D and the LOOX T60D models. Only the T90D has
the built-in DVD recorder; and the US model only gets the T60D model without
the DVD recorder - only a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive =(

Thus, it's the same as their cheaper T60D model, but no sign yet of their T90D
model in the USA =(

Oh, well still waiting

IIRC, W98 detects and installs (16-bit) PCMCIA drivers during installation
-
did that not happen when you ran Setup?

You need to download and install all the L100 W95 and W98 drivers from the
Toshiba web site, including the video driver (will fix your display
problem),
W98 floppy driver, and the W95 utilities package. It is important that you
install the L100 W95 utilities FIRST, then install the W98 Power Saver
driver.
Otherwise hibernation (and Standby?) will not work properly.

Note that several of the L100 drivers will be accompanied, once unzipped,
by
a readme file which explains proper installation.

Once you get the 16-bit PCMCIA drivers and all the other various drivers
installed and working, access the BIOS and set the PCMCIA controller to
Cardbus or
Autoselect (be SURE you have the W98 .cab files on your hard drive before
doing this). Windows will re-detect your PCMCIA slots and look for ToPIC95
and
ToPIC97; point the hardware installer to your W98 .cab files directory to
complete the installation. The install will run twice, once for each
PCMCIA slot.
If you have the enhanced port replicator, you may have to set those extra
PCMCIA slots up for 32-bit access as well.

Hope this helps.

From: Matthew Hanson [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You should be able to insert the FDD card, and boot your system from a boot
FD. Depending on the size of the files you want to copy, using 1 or more
FDs will get data to your HDD.

If the files are too big to hassle with a FDD, you still have 2 options:

1. Pull the HDD, and connect it to a desktop PC via a PCMCIA to IDE adapter
as a 2nd or 3rd drive (you can get them cheaper than here:
http://www.myxtech.com/p/1857.html).

2. Use a nuil modem (bi-driectional) parallel or serial cable to connect
your Libby to another system, and use LapLink or clone (I use the free
Download Mage) to transfer files.

Do you have a Zip Drive? That's what I always used. You should still be
able to download a DOS driver for it at Iomega. I have two Zip disks with
WIN98, all the Toshiba drivers, CPU idlers, etc. that I need for a fresh
install. Use the floppy to boot to DOS, copy the ZIP drivers to the HD to
get the ZIP drive working and then copy the WIN files to the HD and start
the install from there.

From: Raymond [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Re: [LIB] Try a serial ZIP Drive?
Sorry to be picky but ... SERIAL (I presume you mean USB) zip drive? I
don't think the Libby is able to access USB zipdrives from DOS (although do
correct me if I'm wrong!) ... you'd need a parallel port one to get it
running under DOS ...

On the flipside though, parallel port zipdrives do work quite nicely with
the Libretto (and in fact I think it is possible to get it working without
copying the drivers to the HDD but my memory is a little flakey on that
one) ... as do parallel port laplink cables, both are feasible options ...
but using a drive converter and putting the drive into a desktop is, IMHO,
the easiest option (just watch the hibernation region for the relevant
librettos - check the archives for various rants on the topic!) ...

Hope this helps!
