[LIB] Keyboards interchangble?

Subject: Keyboards interchangble?

Hi!

Ok, now that my 110CT is running reliably again, I'm in for the next
step: I already had a 100CT when I bought the 110CT. However, the
keyboard of the 100CT seems to be in better shape than the one of the
110CT. Also, the 100CT's has two keys more (AltGr right of the space
bar and an empty key (Any Key? ;-) ) to the left, with a shorter
space bar). Hence, I'd like to swap the keyboards. Is there anything
that would stop me from doing so or that I should take into account?

Cheerio,

Thomas

AFAIK the 100 and 110 had identical keyboard specs, differing in key layout
only by region so it should be fine ...

As far as software goes, the libretto doesn't care ... my L100 has a British
keyboard (Alt-gr, # sign in the wrong place, etc.), in Windows (default
install) it's as if the keys are in the 'right' (international keyboard) place
(so the shifted symbols are different from what is on the keytops) ... really
confuses people who borrow my computer :-)

Re: [LIB] Hitachi 5200 overheat L70? 40GB 2.5 HDDs for MP3 use

Well, since you seem to have the patience to do the research, would you
care to do the same for 60 and 80Gig HDs? ;-)

I have an IBM IC25N040ATCS-04-0 4200rpm 40Gig in my 110 right now,
Trying to nail down which drive models are wich is really frustrating. For
some reason there seems to be an overall classification of drive models, and
then sub-classes.

Your IC25N040ATCS-04-0, or IC25N040ATCS040 falls somewhere in the range of
IBM Travelstar models 10E to DVAS:

http://www.hgst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/pages/main?OpenDocument

I'd like to pull it out and put it in my Archos (moving my 20Gig Archos
Recorder drive to my wife's 5Gig Archos Player), but only if I can upgrade
in size and preferably downgrade in power usage.
Well, from what I can see so far, the Hitachi DK23FB series look the fastest
and most efficient from what I can deduce. There are 60GB, 40GB and 20GB
models, all of which seem to have basically the same performance specs.

The problem is that Hitachi doesn't seem to have put out a data sheet on the
line. What I can find is limited to the spec sheel on the Dell website, and
a few little ads for the drive.

http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/storage/p51920/specs.htm

But if speed isn't a factor for you, though I'd think like me, you'd want
your MP3s to load in a resoanble amount of time, then the Travelstar 80GN
80GB model IC25N080ATMR04 may do you well.

You can find specs on all Travelstar drives here:

http://www.hgst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/pages/main?OpenDocument

Or more directly, specs on the 80GN series here:

http://www.hgst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/products/Travelstar_80GN

Interesting specs David. I pasted the data you sent together in a pseudo
table format to make things easier for me. The specs for the Travelstar
80GN/4200 and Toshiba MK8025GAS/4200 are pretty impressive compared to their
5200RPM counterparts.

But it's really frustrating when I go right to the spec sheets from the
manufacturers, and find that there are 2-3 models that are sub-classes of
each model. Which drives are which among the specs you forwarded me isn't
clear. Though the differences between sub-class models are not that great I
guess.

The article Tom pointed to comparing the Toshiba MK4019GAX and Travelstar
40GNX were enlightening, and from there finding a 40GB model in the
Travelstar 40GNX line lead to that Hitachi DK23FB series that has got my
attention for their energy efficiency and performance.

I'll try calling the companies selling them tomorrow, and see if I can find
out a bit more about the series.

Matt

That is the French layout, with the key, not managed with the

Hence, I'd like to swap the keyboards.
