Unless I'm missing something, isn't the obvious solution don't use Outlook? Regardless of Outlook's intrinsic merits or demerits, it's by far the most popular target for viruses of any email program. So why not use something else? You know, Doc, it hurts when I do this.. Then don't do that! __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! [LIB] Re: [LIBRETTO] Libretto Digest #1583

Disappointing, as this is the sole reason why I bought the enhanced port rep. Under Win98 Device Manager there aren't the usual entries for USB hub, etc., in fact nothing remotely resembling a USB device. It's dead unless an external power source is connected to the dock. Bingo. Works like a charm now that it's connected to the mains. Thanks Pres! __ Do You Yahoo!? Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! [LIB] Lib 110CT USB problems
Date: Sat, 2 Feb 2002 19:13:25 -0800 (PST) From: Charles Hawtrey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Lib 110CT USB problems Hello everyone, I bought the enhanced port rep from Toshiba but the 110 doesn't want to recognize the USB port. Disappointing, as this is the sole reason why I bought the enhanced port rep. Under Win98 Device Manager there aren't the usual entries for USB hub, etc., in fact nothing remotely resembling a USB device. I tried hooking up a USB device to the port and booting, just in case it needed something connected in order to work, but still no joy. The port rep itself seems to be OK as I can use a keyboard connected to its keyboard (not USB) port. Are any special drivers or setup tweaks needed to get USB going on this thing? Thanks for whatever help you can give. CMH __ Do You Yahoo!? Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! Nice modem/LAN combo
Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2001 08:28:44 -0800 (PST) From: Charles Hawtrey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Nice modem/LAN combo I've been lurking (and, very rarely, posting) here for a long time and thought the group might be interested to know about an item that seems especially suited to the Libretto. It's a Linksys PCMLM56 combination 56K modem and 10/100 ethernet PCMCIA card. Instead of a lot of discussion, I'll just list some points: Advantages: (1) Combo modem/ethernet means only one card to keep track of. (2) No dongle! No special cables or adapters to carry, lose, or break. There's a bulbous thingy on the outside edge the card that has standard RJ-45 and RJ-11 connectors. (3) Built-in digital line protection for the modem. (4) Cables connect horizontally rather than vertically, keeping them out of the way of the keyboard. (5) Reasonable price (about $115 from buy.com) Disadvantage: (1) The big connector block (see (2) above) means that you might not be able to use this with a second PCMCIA card, depending on the profile of the second card. (Hint: if you buy the PCMLM56 copy the drivers onto your hard disk instead of installing from the floppy.) I don't know whether the modem will work outside the U.S. My experience in a dozen or so international trips has been that any modem will work as long as you use X3 to bypass dial tone issues. Hope this is helpful to someone. CMH __ Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
