Dxinfo.exe for DX v5 on my copy of W98 only reports "CPU: Intel Pentium
MMX". DX on WinXP reports the o/ced 266 CPU. Don't know about the versions
in between.

I used to use CPUIdle that reported the CPU speed as I recall. Maybe a free
trial version of it would do the job.

The reason for this message is the bad connection between motherboard and
RAM module

Run the directX diags.
It should show you on the first page.

I believe the error message was caused by my keyboard connection not being
tight...everythings working now...but how do I tell whether I'm running at
266?

I have just completed overclocking my L100 to 266 and when I turned it on,
it flashed the Toshiba screen and then showed:
   Bad check sum (CMOS)
Check System, Then press [F1] key.
Any ideas of what went wrong and how to fix it?

you have done something

with hardware, and your memory has been reset.,
so, press F1 and check your setup and adjust your clock.

only that, and don't worry.
