I had a strange experience. I have recently collected my second used L50
actually about my 4th or so ) to make a pair for my kids. I noticed one
was
signifigantly brighter than the other. Have tried w95 and w98 video
drivers,
and checking the screen-dimming settings which match.

I wonder if the prior owner had some sort of enhancement or maybe the
brighter one has less time on it...?

I suspect the latter.

When my L110 screen was replaced under warranty (at 364 days) and I switched
from a year-old screen to a brand new screen virtually overnight... the new
one was obviously brighter than the old one.

Optiview screen enhancement film.
www.polarvision.com

about 160% increase in daylight contrast when applied to a similar sized lcd
display panel, which is the same as what he noted with his libretto after he
put the films on.

www.arrow.com announced in March that they'd also sell their products in the
future.

In any case, he sent out a note that the film arrived, payment expected and
they'd be shipped soon. about $27 for a sheet. resonable and fair.

you don't need to worry about stripping it off later - you can just cut a tiny
sample to put on the corner of the screen to 'test' it and see if it's worth
it. - something I plan on doing before retrofittting the entire screen. also
will test to see if scratch resisitance is as good or not

anyways, looking forward to the film.

Can someone write me off-list, and let me know what the status of this
thread is. Were David's questions answered on how reversable the
installation is.. etc.? Has anyone done this yet. Has material been
ordered? Is it still possible to participate?

From: Brandon Lin [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have found a place to purchase diplay enhacement films like sunlight anti
reflective anti glare films and brightness enhancement films but they need
me to order $350 dollars or more at once. I know this works because
man-machine.com does it for $300-500 a piece. I was wondering if i bought
the films would anybody be interested in me working on their unit for $100
a
piece to cover my loses of buying in bulk? Thanks.

Brandon

P.S. The anti sunlight film is applied directly to the surface of the LCD
but the brightness enhancement requires that I disasseble the LCD and
sandwich it inside. I will do it first to my two units and then work on
anybody else's to minimize trial and error with someone elses machine but i
still can't garuntee that the screen will come out working with the
brightness enhancement, but if you just want the antisunlight film, which i
will garuntee will work after i operate, i will charge less.

Don't forget to search the Libretto Mailing List archives for prior posts
by
another list member who did exactly the same thing (buy in bulk, then sell

smaller quantities) with the screen enhancement sheets.

Couple years ago as I recall.

But I recall it never happened

Brandon,

I am definitely interested in the films if they work as advertized.
I have a 100CT that I would *love* to be able to use outdoors during
the day. It would work much better for me to pay you for the film
and install it myself though, if you'd be willing to share a few
notes about any issues you ran into when installing your own. Please
let me know if you decide to go forward with the purchase.
