Re: Color of notes depending on accidentals

2009-02-27 Thread Gilles THIBAULT

 [..] if I want to change the color of
note with sharps AND flats? What should I change?

The attached file does this

Note that the lines :
   'tweaks (list (list 'color 1.0 0.0 0.0))) nota)
can be replaced by :
   'tweaks (list (cons 'color red))) nota)

and the line :
   'tweaks (list (list'color 0.0 0.0 1.0))) nota))
by :
   'tweaks (list (cons 'color blue))) nota))

Perhaps easier to modify, if we wish to change the colors, as an
afterthought ...

You can also try MuseScore on Windows and Linux. The lilypond output is
decent and the community is very alive. The development team is quite
responsive as well.

Btw, can Musescore be added to the FAQ ?

It is already possible to install KDE4 in OSX, but I don't know if PyKDE4

I would love if someone can point me the correct place in the manual, as

upper = \relative c'' { ees4 d ees f }
\addQuote upper { \upper }

melody = \relative c {
   ...

   \cueDuring #upper #UP { c4 bes aes c }

   ...
}

But the upper cue is not being rendered. Any hint?

Aligning lyrics when music portion is polyphonic

In a music I am transcribing there is a portion where I had to force two

Now my problem is that lyrics in that part of the music are not shown.

Is there any tweak to solve this issue?

Yes, do not use the {}\\{} construction. I realise that the
Learning Manual still introduces this topic early on, but it should
be taken care of soon. Instead, when you have polyphony, explicitly
create the voices with  {\voiceOne }\new Voice {\voiceTwo}
\oneVoice. See section 1.5.2 of the Notation Reference for more
information.

Fwd: an LM update

2009-02-27 Thread James E. Bailey
Since I haven't heard any feedback, I thought I would post to the -
devel list as well. Incidentally, I've answered questions directly
related to this twice in the last week or so.

Since the NR has the wonderful introduction to single-staff
polyphony, can this be simply inserted into the LM at the
appropriate point. I'm sure new users will have a much easier time
of engraving their music, and many problems can be avoided later if
this topic is presented in the LM the same way it's presented in
the NR. Unless, of course, there's a fundamental reason not to. In
which case, okay.

That's a very old discussion. Let's just leave it that the two are
different, and for lyrics, you need to use the longer version.
Although the shorter version works wonderfully for piano music.

There is a _very_ rudimentary User Guide at
https:/canorus.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Users_Guide

It has a few key bindings and stuff for editing Lyrics but no hint on
how to get started with a new score. As far as I can tell the
developers came from a thing called NoteEdit running on Linux which has
stopped development, so if any of you are Linux users, have a look at
NoteEdit, see if _it_ has any documentation and if this gives you a clue
on getting started. I think the first bit of Canorus has been a port to
see if they can get the old NoteEdit code running on Windows and Mac/OS,
too.

Re: Aligning lyrics when music portion is polyphonic

2009-02-27 Thread madMuze

Side note: wouldn't it be possible to make {}\\{} an abbreviation to
this? It is easier to write and remind.

I have these three entries in my definitions file:
vSpl = #(define-music-function (parser location vOne vTwo) (ly:music?
ly:music?)
#{  { \voiceOne $vOne } \new Voice { \voiceTwo $vTwo }  \oneVoice
#})
vSplDn = #(define-music-function (parser location vTwo vFour) (ly:music?
ly:music?)
#{  { \voiceTwo $vTwo } \new Voice { \voiceFour $vFour }  \voiceTwo
#})
vSplUp = #(define-music-function (parser location vOne vThree) (ly:music?
ly:music?)
#{  { \voiceOne $vOne } \new Voice { \voiceThree $vThree }
\voiceOne
#})

Most of the time I use \vSpl { e'4 } { c4 } (and I'm just lazy enough to
have a macro in LPTool type it out for me and put the cursor inside the
first set of braces); occasionally I need them both down or up (sometimes
with \override Staff.NoteColumn #'ignore-collision = ##t for a chord or
two). Perhaps someone has a more elegant solution?
