Re: [Haifux] Installation Lecture - Request for Sacrifice

2002-09-29 Thread Orna Agmon

Since he is not using it anyway, we can make sure it works before the
installation, (which we must do anyway) and use it as
the after computer: after we added the drivers and all. or we install it
basically, and search the web for drivers before. it is not the easiest
option, but i dont see many computers here that are ready to re-install.

Hmmm macs have a different CPU than your ordinary PCs, probably a PowerPC.
Linux does exist for that, but not your familiar distributions (Redhat,
Mandrake, etc.). Are you sure you want to mess with such complications in a
 demonstration?

[Haifux] I, Bex! - A StoneAge Clone

2002-09-29 Thread Shlomi Fish

Check:

http://vipe.technion.ac.il/~shlomif/i-bex/

I said it would be good idea for the club to work on a StoneAge clone and
meanwhile I started working on one myself. It is written in Perl using SDL
and the Perl/SDL bindings.

Those who wish to contribute boards or graphics or code are more than
welcome to do so.

[Haifux] intro to networking, lecture #5

2002-09-29 Thread Muli Ben-Yehuda

slides are avalaible at
http://www.mulix.org/intro-networking/index.html

As always, comments are appreciated. Note that the slides are pretty
much the same as last year, which means they're pretty much the same
as guy's original slides.

Points to ponder:

1. drop ISDN?
2. enlarge the LAN section, including masquerading and firewalls?
