there is a later one actually -- p7zip-16.02-2.el7.s390x which installed 
trivially for me with no dependencies

Actually, if you go to

will find descriptions of thousands of packages for our CentOS clone
(ClefOS) that will work fine on RHEL7. In addition we have built
additional packages for both 6 & 7. The full index may be found at

We have it in ClefOS already which will work fine without a
rebuild from sources

It was probably built with a higher level of glibc so it will probably
complain. Alternatively, get and build the src RPM.

the RPM files for Fedora "p7zip-16.02-6.fc28.s390x.rpm" can I download this rpm 
and use it on a RHEL 7.3 system

I suggest you create a ticket anyway.  The more people have the problem, the 
higher the priority and the more likely they correct all the bugs associated

Many Thanks for the heads-up. We have the issue, we see it on /tmp and the log 
file.

I switched /tmp to "ext" and I was going to create a SR today, but no need 
now... Hope a non-temporary patch is available very soon...

Just a heads up, if you are  upgrading to SUSE SLES 12 SP3 with kernel 4.4.82, 
be aware that there is a known kernel bug that prevents the system from 
mounting an XFS file system at or after boot with error:  Torn write (CRC 
failure).  The bug is not there for prior kernel levels and in SP2 as far as I 
can see.  There is a temporary patch available from SUSE if you need it.  Here
