A good card that I'd recommend for your needs right now is the Hauppauge HVR-1800. This is a dual tuner combo atsc/qam / hardware mpeg encoder card. Already the ATSC/QAM support is in the 2.6.24 kernel. Stoth has the hardware mpeg encoder working in his cx23885-video tree. After some more testing and cleanups, it will eventually be merged into the master repository, hopefully in time for the 2.6.26 kernel release. Thanks for the answer Tim! That's a good point - I do have a switch. I will try bypassing it but do you still send the diseqc commands or I have to get rid of them? Yes, I have the Skystar HD2 tuning to DVB-S2 transponders using the replacement szap.c mentioned on the wiki page, then listing the channels using 'scan -c -a ' to prove proper reception, all using the current mantis tree. No hacks were needed, it works out of the box every time now that the mantis tree has been updated to support the HD2 card (same one as the VP-1041). If you are using a Diseqc switch then get rid of it for now, mine was causing lots of unreliability. I tried three different types of Diseqc switch, all were the same. [linux-dvb] Supported ATSC cards with HW mpeg encoders
I plan to get a dual ATSC tunner at some point, but as the 2250 does not seem to even be out yet and the HDHomeRun does not support NTSC, I am looking at getting a cheaper card that does suport NTSC for now. I am runing VDR and using the Nexus RGB out to a 23 year old Sony. So any HD must be down scaled anyway. AS a couple of our Digital locals are HD, this is what I want a card with NTSC for, to get the SDTV format of those channels. Cards like the pcHDTV HD-5500 while claiming to suport NTSC, do not have a HW mpeg encoder to convert the video to a format that can be sent out the Nexus video out. You would still need to set up software encoder/decoders. Problem is, the specs for ATSC tuner cards fall far short of providing this info. So what I want to know is, do any of the following cards have HW mpeg2 encoders that is suported by linux/vdr: DVICO FusionHDTV 5 RT Lite http://store.snapstream.com/fusionhdtv-lite.html?gclid=CJODl6T0-ZECFQovgwod0Vg_xA KWorld ATSC 115 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815260005 (they also have a 120, but I'm not finding much about linix suport for it ether) Pinnacle PCTV HD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815144018 ___ linux-dvb mailing list linux-dvb@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb

Analog and DVB-T support could be already added, it behaves here like the md7134 with FMD1216ME. Your doubts about the analog audio input pairs on the Asus Tiger Rev.1.0 are correct, but turns out that sound is routed to both (!) from the break out connectors. We might let it on LINE2 then, assuming this is tested on the internal panel connection too ... Also the composite over s-video is functional, which the Tiger seems not to have. Concerning the eeprom dump, thought we have now all bytes, at least prior "eeprom" dumps did not return more. Also currently with the driver loaded a read attempt returns -EBUSY, else there is no i2c-dev. Might have forgotten something here, but let me know what you like to see in case it could become useful. [linux-dvb] Kworld DVB-T 210 - dvb tuning problem
Hi Hartmut, I noticed you had a bit to do with implementing this card. With a fresh install of ubuntu 7.10 (kernel i386 2.6.22-14-generic), the card is auto recognised as: Kworld DVB-T 210 (card=114) However, tda1004 firmware does not load. Used download-firmware, placed dvb-fe-tda10046.fw into /lib/firmware/2.6.22-14-generic Rebooted. Now, again card is recognised, firmware recognised as version 20. Here is the strange part: - using dvb-utils scan, each time I run that I get a different result in channels. - I try to scan with Kaffeine - nothing - I try to scan with Me-tv - nothing - I try to scan with tvtime - all channels obtained ( no audio). Now, after reboot, if I first start tvtime (analog tv), view a channel, turn tvtime off, and then : - if I place a previously good channels.dvb in Kaffeine - it plays all channels. - if I place a previously good channels.conf in Me-tv - it plays all channels. Would it be correct to say that the "switch" is not working for DVB after boot? I have studied the code, but I need your help to point me in the right direction. [linux-dvb] [Fwd: Re: TV cards]
Hi all Im forwarding this email as suggested by LinuxSA mailing list Im interested in your response, it would be a shame to see this patch lost due to being sent to the wrong list. thanks Darrin Original Message Subject:Re: TV cards Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2008 13:35:49 +1030 From: Mike Lampard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC: Darrin Ritter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Darrin, On Friday 07 March 2008 12:23:45 Darrin Ritter wrote: > Hi all > > Well after some deliberation I decided to take the plunge and install a > TV card in my mythbox. The poster didn't send the patch to the linux-dvb mailinglist either afaics, so it may have been missed completely. You can try to apply the patch to your Linux kernel source, however depending on how recent your kernel version is you may need to do a bit of manual editing to one or more of the cx88 source files. I'd suggest joining the linux-dvb@linuxtv.org mailinglist, and maybe sending your original email to that list, as the patch is more likely to be picked up if posted there (it's where the dvb driver developers hang out). They may also know of an alternative method for enabling your card. Good Luck Mike ___ linux-dvb mailing list linux-dvb@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb
[linux-dvb] Updated scan file for uk-EmleyMoor
Here's a scan file for Emley Moor with the correct frequencies and tuning parameters... Seems the one in the linux-dvb distribution has frequencies with a -133kHz or so offset, and without the correct QAM parameters. Probably my fault, because IIRC I submitted that tuning file... No, it was checked with a digital receiver. Everything is fine. I've tried 2 transponders. Re: [linux-dvb] Leadtek Winfast DTV Dongle Gold
It appears that the driver is the AF9015 which is unsupported at the moment. Quite a few devices appear to use this driver, is anyone planning on supporting it anytime soon? Looks like I'll be returning this one anyway, I'll get one that I know works. Re: [linux-dvb] Re : Decrypting multiple services with a professional CAM module and VLC
There's no 4 services Aston. The prices approximately as follows: Smit: 4 services - 300 USD 6 services - 350 USD 8 services - 400 USD Aston: 2 services - 200 USD 12 services - 850 USD The prices have little difference by encryption system. More over, 8 services Smit CAM decryption drops out after some time with TT S2-3200 and vlc reverting to encrypted streams. 2 services Aston is fine until now. Never the less, It's weird that an 8 services CAM can do only 8...
