Re: A silly question about GCC

 Hi,

 I have a program which I want it's binary to contain a "version string",
 the kind of string RCS automagically makes for you if you ask it nicely.

 Now, if I put it in as a const static variable like so:
 const static char * Ver = "$Id$";

I use

static const char RCSid[] = "$Id$";

and gcc never complains even though I switch all conceivable warnings
on during development. What warning option generates the complaint?

Actually, I just did the following:

static const char RCSid[] = "$Id$";
static const char * Ver = "$Id$";

int main(void) {return 0;}

(note that static should go before const, otherwise there is an
additional complaint), and compiled to get a warning about Ver
but not about RCSid. I have no time to investigate now, but I
hope it helps.

For the record, I used

gcc -c \
-W \
-O2 \
-pedantic \
-Wall \
-Wtraditional \
-Wshadow \
-Wid-clash-32 \
-Wpointer-arith \
-Wcast-qual \
-Wcast-align \

-Wmissing-prototypes \
-Wmissing-declarations \
-Wnested-externs \

Pine problem

2000-08-03 Thread Y. Benado

Hi list.
I'm using Pine 4.21 and i tried to send an E-mail with it. i configured it
but nowhere i could find a username. so that means i must open a user with
my E-mail username. And i dont want to do that.
Is there any way to send E-mail from console using pine (or not) and the
mail will come from the real mail and not [EMAIL PROTECTED] for example?

Yes, there're some possibilities:

  Add From: header to your custom headers (see Setup/Configure in pine).
  Add a Reply-To: header to custom headers with your mail
  Make your mail server rewrite the From: header for you.

Regards,

Andre.

 I guess that "RHCN" stands for "Red Had Contribution Something".

Subject: (OT??) Strange NUMERIC behavior in MySQL

 Hi

 Did someone ever encounter a message like 'Couldn't perform the edit
 because another user changed the record.' from Delphi's BDE while
modifying
 a NUMERIC column value (say, in dbexplor)?
 This doesn't happen with all of the tables, and I'm trying to tell the
 difference between the tables that have the problem and the tables that
 don't.

 I'm using MySQL 3.22.30 and MyODBC 2.50.29.

 Thanks
 Isaac Aaron

in addition to what you were already told - your question implies that you
write email while working as 'root'. do you regularly work on your system
as 'root'? this is getting bad habbits... you might (and will) damage
your system accidentally...
