Re: How to connect to Xen console?

2007-10-06 Thread Ravid Baruch Naali
Hello Amos,

I've tried the same using kubuntu, and as much as I investigate and
experiment, I did not found any way to view the console.
I've tried installing the Windows on QEMU and then use the image for the
xen DomU and still had the same results.
On the other hand using openSUSE 10.2 it was as easy as possible (If it
interest you, I will send you the details).

Further more, in previous discussions about virtual machine, Gilad was
very sure to say:
"Get a laptop with CoreDuo CPU with Intel VT-x and run Linux + kvm.
XP/200 or Vista run fine (enough memory provided)."

How to connect to Xen console?

2007-10-06 Thread Amos Shapira
Hello,

I've followed the instructions from:
http://www.howtoforge.com/debian_etch_xen_from_debian_repository
and
http://mediakey.dk/~cc/howto-install-windows-xp-vista-on-xen/

to install Windows XP Pro SP2 under my Debian Etch and it seems to run but I
don't see a way to access the console of the Windows running in DomU from
the Debian host.

Xen is configured to start a VNC Viewer (in listen mode) but so far I failed
to connect to it and I'm not even sure this is how I'm supposed to access
the console from Dom0 (I suspect it's meant more to be used by a VNC server
in the DomU machine). Looking at the file descriptos of the viewer process I
don't see that it opened anything but the listening socket.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

--Amos

I'm interested to apply for opening #1. My resumés can be found here:

Note that I have very little experience in Java, and only a little in
JavaScript. But I know many other languages and technologies, and have a lot
of understanding of the Web.
