Re: reshet.ynet.co.il not on Download Helper, anything else?

2009-06-26 Thread Noam Rathaus
Hi Amos,

I haven't done anything special and I am able to see all the movies :)

Not sure what I have installed if anything, but I just click "Play" on
Ubuntu 9.04 with FF3.5 (I am pretty sure its not related to FF3.5) and
it works.

reshet.ynet.co.il not on Download Helper, anything else?

2009-06-26 Thread Amos Shapira
Hi,

Does anyone know how to download the streams available on
http://reshet.ynet.co.il?
I'd like to watch them on my own time. They play well as a stream on
my Ubuntu 9.04 but there are long programs I can't always watch in one
go and I'd like to save the re-downloading (have capped Internet plan,
very slow from long distance).

DownloadHelper for Firefox doesn't seem to recognize this site.

Thanks,

Someone will check that for me tomorrow. But the adsl works and people
get no answer so i guess it is fine

What happens if you connect a simple phone instead of the FXO adapter?
Does it work?

[HAIFUX Lecture] KSM and the art of memory mangement - Izik Eidus

2009-06-26 Thread Orr Dunkelman
On Monday, June 29th at 18:30, Haifux will gather to hear Izik Eidus
speaking about

KSM and the art of memory mangement

KSM is a linux driver that allows dynamically sharing identical memory
pages between one or more processes. Unlike traditional page sharing
that is made at the allocation of the memory, ksm do it dynamically
after the memory was created. Memory is periodically scanned;
identical pages are identified and merged. The sharing is unnoticeable
by the process that use this memory. (the shared pages are marked as
readonly, and in case of write do_wp_page() take care to create new
copy of the page).

voip problems (more info)

2009-06-26 Thread Erez D
More info:
Both asterisk and ata confirm registration.
Ata does not answer the incoming calls from the bezeq line as it should (and
done until few days ago)
Bezeq line is not busy when others call it (just no answer)

voip problems

2009-06-26 Thread Erez D
Hi.
I am abroad and using voip to call my family and other israeli phones.
I use my cell phone as a sip client and connect via wifi to my asterisk box
which connects to an ht488 (fxo) which is connected to a bezeq line.
Until a few days ago everything worked great. However, in the last days,
whenever i try to call phones i get an "address busy" error.
Note that i am able to connect to the voicemail on the asterisk box.
I tried to restart both my asterisk and my ata, but the problem remains.

Any idea ?

Thanks,
Erez.

I wonder - was it with the more advanced stuff or the simpler haresources?

haresources is indeed trivial, the other thing just didn't work
(CentOS 5, x86_64, xen 3.0.x guests, doing VIP for the simplest test
case but haresources is used in production for drbd, databases, http
servers, vip's, LVS, monitoring stuff (collectd, monit), and
home-grown software).

If you have a pointer to GOOD documentation/tutorial about the cib and
friends then I'd love to see it.

Thanks,

Doesn't vrrpd require cooperation from the switch?

I've been using Linux-HA for about 18 months now. Using the packages
bundled with CentOS 5 (started at 5.0 and at 5.3 now).

Although the packages are version 2, I couldn't get the fancier
version 2 xml style configuration to work, it just kept crashing one
of the daemons. So I stick to the older "haresources" style and it
works, but I'm always suspicious about how well it'll behave in real
tight corners.

I have a suspicion that I can learn a lot more and gain more in
regards to redundancy and fail-over but try as I might, after a few
weeks of fiddling with the more fancy configuration format even just
to serve a simple VIP I had to go back to haresources. This was over a
year ago so maybe it improved since?

What about RedHat Cluster Suite? It's part of CentOS as well, as far
as I'm aware, it's based on Linux-HA, and a worker of mine has good
experience with it so I'm thinking of maybe checking it when we have
some time to breath again. Does it do anything better?

Re: Fwd: XenServer is enterprise-ready and free.

2009-06-26 Thread Amos Shapira
And still - I now use Xen 3.0.3-80 on CentOS 5.3 as Dom0 and wonder
whether this product will give me something better.
I love open software and rather use it (and rather very much use
supported versions from CentOS), but still wonder what do I give up by
not using this product.
