Can it be that Firefox has the username cached ?
What if you remove all saved UID's and passwords, will
FF still login with no UID needed ?

Essentially you're doing the same thing.

  Hi,

I'm looking to do something that is easy in MS Access on a Linux system
(using FOSS preferably).

I have a RIGHT TO LEFT XLS file containing some fields that are
English, some that are Hebrew and some that are mixed text. I would
like to create an SQL database of that file with the least
understanding of SQL, basically a point and click front end is what I
need.

Then I want to do the same thing with a LEFT TO RIGHT English CSV file
of similar information.

Once I have those, I want to be able to search, produce reports and
compare (as in tell me all in one but not the other) and so on. All
with a point and click interface.

Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Geoff.

solved (was - smb access problem)

2012-03-16 Thread Shlomo Solomon
OK - I continued playing around and discovered a solution (although I'm not
sure I understand why it works).

Instead of smb://10.0.0.138 or smb://10.0.0.1 I tried
smb://user@10.0.0.138 and smb://user@10.0.0.1 and now I'm not being asked for
a password.
BTW - the same works for my xtreamer which also has an IP address on the
network.

smb access problem

2012-03-16 Thread Shlomo Solomon
I have a D-link router (from Bezeq). It runs Samba so you can put a USB disk
on the home network.

When I access smb://10.0.0.138 from Firefox, I can see the files on the USB
disk. But when I try the same thing from Dolphin, Krusader or Konqueror I'm
asked for a username and password. I discovered that if I enter user as the
username and no password, I can reach the files, but I don't understand why I
needed to enter the user in Dolphin, or how I can change this.

On a similar note, I have a directory on my Linux machine shared over the
network, also using Samba. I discovered that the same thing happens here. So,
in this case, I can reach smb://10.0.0.1 in Firefox, but in Dolphin I have to
enter my username, but with no password.

What am I doing wrong?

Equivalent to MS/ACCESS

2012-03-16 Thread geoffrey mendelson

Hi,

I'm looking to do something that is easy in MS Access on a Linux
system (using FOSS preferably).

Geoff.
