Re: [hackers-il] Need Personal Loans so I can Collect Online Donations

2005-11-09 Thread Gadi Evron

This is not a fraud. I was trying to get a private loan.

On a public mailing list.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with your way of reaching your
friends... but generally asking for money, and especially when it's for
a private endevour, is better done more discreetly.

I doubt you had much success?

I had a personal problem with your post because on one hand, I wanted to
turn into the flamer in me and teach you a lesson and on the other,
hey, why should I care about one post to the list from a regular member
which is private and self-serving? You stated it is and I may send a
private email here as well one day.

Your choice of sending it here is questionable at best and might have
best gone without comment, instead, people humoured you and tried to
help by offering alternatives. You should expect at least some back-lash
for taking on a 419-er look, whatever the true intention is.

It was stupid, imo, but I wish you all the best. Let us ALL stop
discussing it now.

Hi good people!

Throughout the years I have created (and still am creating) many useful and
free-as-in-speech digital resources: open source software, a home site with
many resources, presentations about various topics (including Perl for Perl
Newbies), essays, articles and fictitious stories. I placed them all on the
web for anyone to enjoy and learn from, without asking for anything in
return. I enjoy doing that and plan to continue doing that. However, I also
would like to start seeing some monetary benefit.

For this, I decided to add a PayPal donation button to my sites, so people can
donate money for me in exchange for benefiting from the fruits of my labour.
In order to accept credit cards donations PayPal requires two things:

1. An international credit card.

2. An account in a U.S. bank.

I recently opened an account at FIBI and they told me that in order to get an
international credit card I need to reserve 15,000 NIS. I don't have this
kind of money at the moment, and since I need a PayPal account to collect it,
I have a chicken and egg problem. But I figured out a way to resolve it.

If you feel that you know me well and that my work is worthy, please consider
giving me a personal loan of several 1,000's NIS. I will use it to set up my
PayPal account and to eventually gather enough money to pay it back.
(Possibly with some interest).

Is this a phishing email?

Hi.

Because it is a bit off-topic, and I specifically requested replies to
be made off-list.

a server for fun and profit

2005-07-06 Thread Gadi Evron

Hi.

A few of us are about to run a server in ActCom's server farm, for the
total cost of 120 bucks a month.

We doubt we will add many more people, as we all want to be friends or
friends by proxy, but there are a couple of seats left and I am sure
most people here answer that definition.

Price will range between 20 shekels and 20 bucks a month, depending on
how many people will end up joining. We don't want to pass 15 people.

We will most likely run FreeBSD. A very good sysadmin will do system and
answer all your needs within 24 hours. I will do security.

If you are interested, please contact me _off_list_.
Don't contact me if you are not interested in *joining* - I had a lovely
time on a different list and I don't want a repeat. :)

Thanks,

Gadi.

Gadi,

If you want people to join you, you might want to publish some info:

* What server is it (processors, disks, RAM, RAID, etc..)
* What bandwidth limit (if any) ?
* Why FreeBSD? Which version of FreeBSD?

By publishing this info, you'll cut yourself many of those emails who
will ask you the same questions over and over again..

I'll take my chances, thanks though.

Perhaps you didn't notice, but this is a *Linux* mailing list, so don't
be surprise if people wonder why you chose FreeBSD... :-)

No, but I am starting to wonder why you keep insisting on answering
everything, and always on-list.

Re: A new venture - preventing spam

2005-07-04 Thread Gadi Evron

I'm looking for people who are interested in founding with me
a new venture related to preventing spam. The anti-spam
market is a big market and in 2 or 3 years it's expected to
become a market of billions. I already have an idea of solving
this problem. I believe that with the right people with me
we'll be able to find a solution to this problem.

If any of you is interested, please contact me for more information.

First off, I wish you all the luck in the world, both in solving the
problem and making Billions.

Still, by the way you type, I would strongly suggest you read the
following (FUSSP) before attempting to solve the problem:
