Re: Computer recommendation for Linux server.
any brandname machine with the right specs will do. a word of warning though - don't hope to scale the specs, purchase the max set of hardware you'll need right away - upgrades can be more expensive than the machine itself. If you expect to need more than a single server, maybe a beefy machine that can carry multiple VMs would be preferable. 2011/6/16 Josh Roden joshro...@gmail.com: Hi Everyone, This is my new address (was j...@hadassah.ac.il). Hi If you want to save, you don't need a raid controller. Use a software raid. Installing The OS on a software raid is not easy. On regular computers installing many disks may be a problem. buy adapter to install the Hard disk in an empty CD bay. Re: Computer recommendation for Linux server.
hi! We don't know what your other requirements are, but are you sure that a desktop machine will be stable enough? If the single second-rate power supply toasts (and probably fries a disk and the controller with it), can you afford the 1 week downtime? What about backups? -Mike On Fri, May 8, 2009 at 9:29 AM, nir grinberg n...@grinberg.org wrote: I second this. your demands are outside of your budget (by far) -- Regards, Nir Grinberg I.T.C.
