Re: Hebrew fonts that work under xemacs

1999-10-17 Thread Micha Feigin

The problem is not xterm, because I am using xemacs, not emacs.
I have, at list this font installed in the path:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/heb-tt/heb8x13.pcf.gz, and it is in my fontpath.
xemacs still doesn't recognise it (xterm does). How is it defined in your
fonts.* files?
The thing is, I already have xemacs set up, I like the features, and I
don't have the room on the disk to install emacs, and for now I only need
to see the hebrew letters to make shure that what I type is correct
(short sentences), although r2l input will be nice if anyone managed to
write a library for doing that.
Thanx

BTW i can use these fonts in other applications, so X recognises them.

Try the pcf fonts from snunit (www.snunit.k12.il I think); on my
 machine they're at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/heb8x13.pcf.gz
 etc. .

Apart from placing them in your font path, you have to tell xterm
to use them - "xterm -fn heb8x13" for example. The files come with
 a readme, IIRC.

Whoops, didn't notice that in the original post - sorry, I don't
use [lx]?emacs, can't help you there.

What fonts are available for you in xemacs? Look for hebrew fonts
of the same type...?

In fact, I don't know why you are having trobules with xemacs. I run
xemacs -fn heb10x20 and it gives me a fine hebrew font, heb10x20 being
-Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-Normal-Hebrew-20-200-75-75-C-100-ISO8859-1

Sorry, I don't remeber where it is from, I think it's from HUJI site or
one of the mirrors, standard Unix hebrew fonts pack.

Well, aperently, I have the needed fonts installed, Its just that xemacs
wont use them. I tried xemacs -fn heb10x20 but for some reson it just
ignored the font request.
