Re: Hebrew Support StarOffice 5.1

2000-04-25 Thread Gavrie Philipson

With SO5.1, I couldn't open Hebrew Word files. With SO5.2 Preview, this
works fine. Of course, the Hebrew is backwards...

Gavrie.

Although my experience with it is not good, mainly because I have to install

 the more
it will be used the more debugging it will get.

From what I tried - you can get a resonable look from using the ElMar
fonts. Please let me know if using those fonts makes it look resonble, or
if you have any problems with setting them.

Note that unlike a standard wysiwyg word-processor the size of the screen
fonts is not critical, as the rendering is done by latex with a different
set of fonts, and lyx does not assume too much about the size of the
screen fonts [please correct me if I'm wrong, Dekel].
Actually I have used it from an X terminal for which I can't set resonable
fonts, and I had to settle for using fixed fonts (with strange sizes) for
it. It took some time to get used-to, but nothing really terrible.

(If you want to know how the document will look like - view the dvi file)

A physicist, an engineer, and a computer scientist were
discussing the nature of God. Surely a Physicist, said the
physicist, because early in the Creation, God made Light; and you
know, Maxwell's equations, the dual nature of electro-magnetic
waves, the relativist consequences... An Engineer!, said the
engineer, because before making Light, God split the Chaos into
Land and Water; it takes a hell of an engineer to handle that big
amount of mud, and orderly separation of solids from
liquids... The computer scientist shouted: And the Chaos,
where do you think it was coming from, hmm?
