also I think I saw a movie recorder like what you seek built into beryl
as one of its many plugins.

my new bombastic PC is getting here today and I'll be able to install
beryl at home at last, I'll test that too :-)

What program can I use to capture the happening on the screen into a
movie file? I want to demonstrate something.
