Redhat 7.1 and kernel 2.4.x - combined - doesn't have that problem. I think it's related to glibc... -- Hetz Ben Hamo System Administrator Magnifire Websystems Inc. I was referring to the partition size, as Shlomi posted that large files were possible, but wasn't sure about the partition size. I also tried creating a 2GB file on one of my ReiserFS partition, and it stopped on the 2GB boundary. I'm not sure if that is due to a kernel limitation (as Shlomi indicated), or a filesystem limitation, but I just thought I should report it. xfs and linux
Hey, Since it been few days already and no one wrote about it.. XFS 1.0 is released for linux I guess most people think now yea well another FS what's the big deal. well this time it's not just another FS it's sgi one and they hacked the kernel to add many features linux needed for years including direct I/O Space preallocation Transactionally recorded quotas and more the problem is those patches won't get into 2.4.x series as they need massive api changes. this is a great perfurmance improvment. more info at: http://linux-xfs.sgi.com/projects/xfs/ the SGI install addon for rh7.1 (that let you install rh7.1 with xfs root) avalible at: ftp://ftp.cs.huji.ac.il/pub/linux/redhat/RH7.1-SGI-XFS-1.0.iso fun Ely Levy System group Hebrew University Jerusalem Israel = To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
