sbp2 oops with external ieee1394 burner
Searched and didn't find anything on archives for this, but I probably just missed it. Upgraded from 2.6.8.1 today to 2.6.10, and using my external firewire DVD-RW I get oopsed. I patched to 2.6.11-rc3 and it's still there, I can't speak for 2.6.9 at this point, I can try later if I have to narrow it down. Just wondered if anyone else had this prob? Re: (2.4.1-ac15) pcmcia irq conflict
Any suggestions of things I could try to help pinpoint the problem and let you know the results? Everything was fine before 2.4.1. I've been using the pcmcia-cs without kernel pcmcia support up until it didn't work with 2.4.1, then I tried using the kernel pcmcia and no deal there either. As soon as I try to start pcmcia my machine freezes. When using yenta_socket I can see that the TI pcmcia and eth0 (intel eepro100) are both on irq 11. when using the pcmcia-cs way of it I tried "exclude irq 11" in config.opts and /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia set "PCIC_OPTS="irq_list=9,10,15 pci_irq_list=9,10,15" as was suggested in this post : http://groups.google.com/groups?q=inspiron+8000+pcmcia+2.4.1=en==off=1=929215370=1 It didn't work for me - at least not with 2.4.1-ac13 to ac15 I didn't disable my minipci ethernet because I need it and if the IRQ's for pcmcia didn't use 11 now I wouldn't think I would need to. (2.4.1-ac15) pcmcia irq conflict
Upgrading from 2.2.18 and 2.4.0 to 2.4.1-ac15 broke pcmcia. I have a Dell Inspiron 8000. Trying to use pcmcia with kernel (yenta_socket) or pcmcia-cs only causes pcmcia card to take irq 11, which my eth device is on also. This didn't happen with 2.2 or 2.4.0 kernels. What param would I pass (how can I specify) to get yenta_socket to take say IRQ 9 or 10 on startup? (2.4.1-ac15) Wont set using_dma = 1 with hdparm
With 2.2.18 I can set using_dma = 1 with hdparm on my Dell Inspiron 8000, I cannot with 2.4.1-ac15, so my HD works about 1/3 the speed with 2.4.1.
Re: (2.4.1-ac15) pcmcia irq conflict
Any suggestions of things I could try to help pinpoint the problem and let you know the results? Everything was fine before 2.4.1. I've been using the pcmcia-cs without kernel pcmcia support up until it didn't work with 2.4.1, then I tried using the kernel pcmcia and no deal there either. As soon as I try to start pcmcia my machine freezes. When using yenta_socket I can see that the TI pcmcia and eth0 (intel eepro100) are both on irq 11. when using the pcmcia-cs way of it I tried "exclude irq 11" in config.opts and /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia set "PCIC_OPTS="irq_list=9,10,15 pci_irq_list=9,10,15" as was suggested in this post : http://groups.google.com/groups?q=inspiron+8000+pcmcia+2.4.1hl=enlr=safe=offrnum=1seld=929215370ic=1 It didn't work for me - at least not with 2.4.1-ac13 to ac15 I didn't disable my minipci ethernet because I need it and if the IRQ's for pcmcia didn't use 11 now I wouldn't think I would need to. This didn't happen with 2.2 or 2.4.0 kernels. Sharing a PCI irq is legal, so that isnt the cause. It could be that the irq routing isnt getting handled correctly however. - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/ -- Jason Straight - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/
Re: (2.4.1-ac15) Wont set using_dma = 1 with hdparm
Doh, I forgot to turn on the DMA options in the kernel. Thanks. Mark Hahn wrote: you didn't mention what ide controller you're using, which sort of makes a big difference. with modern kernels, it shouldn't be necessary to hdparm at all, since you can select such config at compile time. which is normal when you haven't configured the chipset-specific ide code, and are using generic ide stuff. -- Jason Straight - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/
neighbour table overflow?
Could someone please explain the reason that this error would occur? I mean the root of the problem ie. what really causes it in the kernel? And then some common laymen reasons that it might be showing up on 2 of my machines that I use as routers? I have searched deja.com and found a few suggestions but nothing seemed to do any good. I get the same message on 2 machines of 3 that have had kernels 2.2.17, 2.2.18, and 2.4.1 on them - no matter what kernel I get the error. I have also tried playing musical network cards but no help there either. Thanks in advance. -- Jason Straight NMO.net Chief Network Engineer - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/

Re: Kernel 2.4.0test10 crash (RAID+SMP)
It may be a filesystem problem, I had a problem like this with a 200GB raid 0 array using reiserfs, it went down 3 times in 2 days. I switched to ext2 on md0 and everything has been fine now for weeks. On Sunday 05 November 2000 16:08, ryan wrote: > > Hi, > > I tried 2.4.0test10, but I get a kernel oops quite often.
