Technisat SkyStar2 DVB card (rev 02)

Hi,

Does this card require additional non-GPL binary driver?

According to the Wiki it does, whats the kernel to use with it? It does
not compile with 2.6.31

It seems that it is not supported yet by the driver.

Is there maybe some code available to get the IR receiver with evdev
 running?

What bridge chip does the TeVii S470 use: a CX23885, CX23887, or
 CX23888?

Does the TeVii S470 have a separate microcontroller chip for IR
somewhere on the board, or does it not have one? (If you can't tell,
just provide a list of the chip markings on the board.)

If the card is using the built in IR controller of the CX23888 than that
should be pretty easy to get working, we'll just need you to do some
 experimentation with a patch.

If the card is using the built in IR controller in the CX23885, then
you'll have to wait until I port my CX23888 IR controller changes to
work with the IR controller in the CX23885. That should be somewhat
straightforward, but will take time. Then we'll still need you to
 experiment with a patch.

If the card is using a separate IR microcontroller, I'm not sure where
 to begin :P

 Andy

According to the Wiki it's a cx23885. Looks like the IR is on the chip.
It's in the Wiki: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/TeVii_S470

Tevii is listing the card as supported in Linux with ti's own s2api
driver download, its here: http://www.tevii.com/Support.asp

Re: [linux-dvb] Most stable DVB-S2 PCI Card?

2009-11-13 Thread Jonas Kvinge

I have four of them and they work perfectly, but not out of the box from
the v4l-dvb tree. If it's patched with the patches posted on this list a
few weeks ago by Andreas Regel (or used with his repo at
http://powarman.dyndns.org/hg/v4l-dvb) it locks perfectly on every
transonder on 1.0W, without them it does not. I also have an S2-3200 and
a NOVA-HD-S2 but they can't handle all transponders symbol rates so I
highly recommend the S2-1600. Bought them for €50 in Germany.

 /Magnus H

Why aren't those patches in the official repo?

What is the most stable DVB-S2 PCI card?

I've read through the wiki DVB-2 PCI section, but am not confident after
reading this what the answer is.

Running Fedora Core 10 at the moment, but am willing to upgrade to 11 or
perform custom patches to get something going.

No need for CI or DiSEQ support, just highly stable/reliable DVB-2
 tuning/reception under Linux.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated!

If you don't need the CI part, The TT S2-1600 is a 2nd generation DVB-S2 PCI
card with great performance (supports Symbol rates upto 60MSPS), with support
out of the box from the v4l-dvb tree.

 Regards,
 Manu

I think I will try that card. Is the card tested to be working by many?

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR4000(Lite) Nova-HD-S2 LNB Voltage

2009-11-01 Thread Jonas Kvinge
Hi,

When measuring the voltage on the card it is between 12.8 and 13.0V,
while the set-top box measures 13.6V. I got a pretty long cable to the
LNB, approx 30 meters, could this be causing problems for me? Is there a
way to increase the voltage by 0.5V?

Corruption and decoding problems on SD channels with Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-HD-S2, HD channels are fine.]

2009-10-21 Thread Jonas Kvinge

Hello,

I'm having frequently Unknown audio decoding error, Header missing,
ac-tex damaged on what seem to be all SD channels, which resutls in
prebuffering pause in MythTV. All HD channels are fine and no problems.
The channels which are worst are also very hard to lock. Sometimes some
channels are not watchable at all.

I am using Canal Digital in Norway, channel listing can be found here:

http://www.telenorsbc.com/templates/Page.aspx?id=678

I have had this problem for about a month. I know that Canal
Digital have done some changes to the transponders around the same time
that this happened. But I don't know if this has anything to do with it.
I have deleted all transponders and channels in MythTV and rescanned
everything.

It seem like a bad signal, but when testing with the set-top box from
the provider it shows signal strength 80% and signal quality 90%. Also
it is strange that all HD channels would work fine if there was a poor
signal.

* I got a Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 card. Using Kernel 2.6.30.9 and MythTV
trunk revision 22257

* My dish is pointed correctly using a satellite finder. it shows 9 out
of 10 when the db button is set at the lowest. This is the best signal I
have ever had. I've tried to slightly adjust the dish anyway without any
change.

* I have replaced the LNB, it is a Triax Quad LNB.

* I got two cables from the dish, same problem with both cables.

* In MYthTV signal is shown as 85-86%. BE is 0. This is the same as I
have always had when it was working.

I have also tested with a Technotrend Budget S-3200 card, which had the
same problems, except that this card does not work on HD channels at
all, which it never have.

Here is the log when this happens:

Hello,

Whats the command to extract the firmware from the new driver release at
http://www.wintvcd.co.uk/drivers/88x_2_123_27056_WHQL.zip

The driver at http://www.wintvcd.co.uk/drivers/88x_2_122_26109_WHQL.zip
is no longer available, so the link on
