Remember - it got crushed to death between Netscape Combusticator and
Internet Exploder, sometime in the 90s. Now it's all Web 2.0(TM) -
plenty of javascript offering useless drivel, making sure that it only
works in One Browser.

Like Consumer Institute. It doesn't even work properly in firefox, and
sure as anything will do naught in anything else.

Or Kiwibank. It only works in firefox now (which on Linux I view as a
pretty shoddy browser).

OT Press co hogging cpu usage

2009-06-25 Thread Barry Marchant

Hi All,

has anyone looked at the press co website today? I am having trouble
with it hogging cpu usage, in excess of 95% at times, and being unable
to scroll the site because the scrollbar is locked up. Last time i tried
over 130 images were d/l. Mouse response when trying to change apps is
also appauling.

Often caused by poorly behaved flash apps, or sometimes multiple
animated gifs. Consider running adblock or something similar ...

Snif-snif ...
According to w3c http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/ has 125 errors. It
is supposed to be XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Thanks for the replies, I fixed my problem by turning off every optional
extra in opera. Perhaps someone with greater knowlege than me should
tell them??
