It is persistent on reboot - to the value configured in your X11 config
file. You can however change the default in the config file with your
favourite system administration tool. The file itself is
/etc/X11/xorg.conf unless your distro really messes things around.

 If you use the console command I described below, you will
have to do it every boot.

Hi all, I have a compaq nx9040 which I wish to use for a continuous 
slide show this weekend but I can not stop the screen blanking.


I am using kde, running on mains power, Display power control not 
enabled, blank screen saver selected  set to start after 500 mins (over 
8 hrs)


What have i missed which is permitting screen blanking
