Dell has a site (you'll have to Google it) where they sell their off-lease notebooks thru E-bay. Best prices I've seen, you get to pick your specs, and you're protected. I'd also consider purchasing a new laptop, but my budget is limited to roughly US$1000, so it might be difficult to find something in that area. If anyone has recommendations, i'd love to hear them. my trusty (really) old Sony Vaio died over the weekend (won't power on at all), so i'm looking to purchase a replacement, but i'm on a You can get remanufactured systems from Dell at http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/products/line_notebooks.htm and Gateway at http://www.gateway.com/reman/hm_notebook_matrix.shtml These are the pages for home users. There are also ones available for business; search remanufactured or refurbished at the main site. These systems usually come with a warrantee that is the same as a new system. I've bought a used Dell Desktop at about 50% the cost of a new one and had great service from it. Two weeks ago Best Buy was selling Toshiba laptops that meet your minimums for $750 after rebates (had to lay out $1100 initially, but assuming the rebates come through it will really be $750) Gary ___ Linux-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe/Suspend/Etc - http://www.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
