Actually, this site is building quite a database of things compatible
with linux: http://www.linuxcompatible.org

I think I'd prefer to have a link to another solid list of compatible
hardware, which we could contribute to. There's little sense in
duplicating that kind of effort. It seems like it'd be more valuable to
work with other sites on that one.

I had actually started working on this at one time. if there's interest, I can
bring it back. it was almost 70% done. I wasn't going to make it a category
thing though.. I was going to make it a sub-site of the sxs...

Would it be worth our time and resources to add in a "linux
hardware compatibility page"? Personally, I think it would be quite useful to
have our own list of stuff/things that work with the linux OS. Perhaps with a

If you want to take the lead on this, start submitting content, and i'll
gladly post it to the SxS. There's no point in starting a category that
has no content, just so that we can wait to fill it up.

Step by Step addon suggestion...

2003-01-24 Thread Jerry McBride

I'd like to table a suggestion for the Step by Step linux resource, if I may.

Would it be worth our time and resources to add in a "linux
hardware compatibility page"? Personally, I think it would be quite useful to
have our own list of stuff/things that work with the linux OS. Perhaps with a
comment area that would have things like "required" software versions, hacks,
"how I did it", etc...

Just a suggestion, I hope it catches on as I have quite a bit to contribute to
such a prodject.
