has any one on the list any experience of Linux Blue ?

I am particularly interested in the Asus desktop overlay on it as it 
seems to be tailored for the ROG series laptop, which I use as my daily 
machine.

NixOS is something that's definitely interesting...  I've started 
playing but the day job and reality keep on getting very far at this 
stage. :-)

Once upon a time relying on Microsoft was frowned upon because of the
predatory, exploitive and monopolistic nature. Why is it that the same
thing is now acceptable, as I'm seeing only faceplanting going on?

I'll cover exactly this. To be clear, Universal Blue doesn't exactly use Docker 
to delivery the OS but there is definitely a lot of overlap.
