[Linux-uvc-devel] 05c8:0403 listed as supported but is not working

2011-08-14 Thread overclocked

Dear ladies and gentlemen.

As I wrote before, the following webcam is NOT working on my HP 4720s
laptop:

05c8:0403 Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd (Foxlink).

I have installed (today) last version of the uvc driver. (from git clone
git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git).

When I try to test it with 'guvcview' it works about 20 secons only.
Then video freezes, webcam LED turns off.

guvcview writes the following to console output:

libv4l2: error dequeuing buf: No such device
VIDIOC_DQBUF - Unable to dequeue buffer : No such device
Error grabbing image
libv4l2: error dequeuing buf: No such device
VIDIOC_DQBUF - Unable to dequeue buffer : No such device

VIDIOC_DQBUF - Unable to dequeue buffer : No such device
Error grabbing image
libv4l2: error dequeuing buf: No such device
VIDIOC_DQBUF - Unable to dequeue buffer : No such device
Error grabbing image
...

If I restart guvcview, it just shows same errors and black screen
instead of video.

BUT!!! If I restart the driver using:

$ sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo
$ sudo modprobe uvcvideo

video in guvcview works again!!! (for about 20 seconds).

So I think that it's definitely a problem with UVC driver.

You have already answered me, that it works on HP Mini 5103 netbook. But
if it works on your system, it does not always mean that it will work on
others.

Thank You in advance,
Kind Regards,

Andrey Sapegin.

Hi,
can you please attach output of:
lsusb -vd 05c8:0403 lsusb

also reload uvcvideo module with:
sudo rmmod uvcvideo sudo modporbe uvcvideo trace=0xfff

capture video until it brakes and attach dmesg to email as well, please
send complete dmesg not just last part with error. You may gzip it.

Regards,
Alexey
