[pfSense] PRIVATE WAN CAN NOT PING PRIVATE LOCAL NETWORK

2014-09-04 Thread Enock Halonda
Hello All,

Hope your all well. I need some assistance.I have setup my pfsense system as
below.

WAN IP (IP from ISP) on Pfsense (10.20.5.1/24)-- LOCAL LAN IP on
Pfsense (192.168.0.0/22)

From the diagnosis on my Pfsense, i can ping from my WAN (10.20.5.2 as source)
to LAN Interface.

I can not however ping any workstation on the local network for example:
192.168.1.4.

I can of course ping the IP: 192.168.1.4 from the LAN interface as the source
under my diagnosis.

Internet Access is available. I just want to be able to get to the local IP's
on the LAN network from the WAN Interface.

Has anyone faced this or can anyone advise. Thanks alot.

Halonda Denis Enock.

For starters, you would need a rule to allow inbound traffic from your
WAN to your LAN, pfsense by its nature, blocks inbound traffic on the
WAN interface.
Secondly, you will need to uncheck Block private networks on your WAN
interface.
Lastly, I'm assuming that you have disabled NAT already, and that your
ISP is doing NAT for both your LAN and WAN subnets.

Re: [pfSense] How do I fix this?

2014-09-04 Thread Brian Caouette
The price was right but yes it consumes some power. Its loud and warms
the room. Should be good in another month or so when we turn the furnace
on. As for the nics I have no idea if their intel or not. Don't recall
that detail. I'll try your suggestion and change the time and see what
happens.

Some connections might be slow to respond occasionally, or not handle
constant pings well. You can send fewer pings, (every 3 seconds for
instance) and wait a longer period of time before declaring the link
is down. (like 30 seconds or so)

 The hardware is a dell 2850, i have a 15x1 cable connection.

If you have nothing better to do with the PowerEdge, might as well use
it. They look like they might consume some watts, though. Yours has
only Intel nics?

[pfSense] After upgrading 2.1.3-2.1.5 the SNMP.pm can't be found for Nagios anymore

2014-09-04 Thread davy van de moere
Gents,

after upgrading to 2.1.5, coming from 2.1.3 PFSense all of a sudden lost
it's Net/SNMP.pm from it's path.

This results in issues with some plugins of Nagios. e.g.

 /usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/libexec/nagios/check_ifoperstatus

which barfs :

Can't locate Net/SNMP.pm in @INC (@INC contains:
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/libexec/nagios
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/lib/perl5/5.14.2/BSDPAN
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2/mach
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/lib/perl5/5.14.2/mach
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/lib/perl5/5.14.2 .) at
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/libexec/nagios/check_ifoperstatus line 40.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/pbi/nrpe-amd64/libexec/nagios/check_ifoperstatus line 40.

I guess something went wrong in the Perl dependencies.

What is advised to get out of this situation?

thx!
