Expect unusual performance. This platform is not supported.

 I have an Alix board:

   Origin = AuthenticAMD  Id = 0x5a2  Family = 0x5  Model = 0xa  Stepping = 2

 real memory = 134217728 (128 MB)
 avail memory = 94752768 (90 MB)

 So, is the Alix deprecated?

pfSense needs 265MB RAM.
I use Smallwall (http://smallwall.org/) on Alix boards with only 128MB RAM.

Or is the warning a FP?

No, unfortunately pfSense needs more RAM than you have.

2.1.5 is installing fine, and then update works OK. I haven’t tested yet the
devices with serial cables to see where they stop.

Anyone faced this?

You do not specify how much RAM your Alix device have.
I have only been able to run pfsence reliably with Alix devices that
have 256MB RAM. With less (128MB RAM) the webconfigurator process kills
itself, presumably because it needs more RAM to work properly.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but this is what I have noticed on my systems.

Re: [pfSense] WRAP and pfsense

Hi,

I know that wrap boards are not supported on pfsense but I was wondering if
anyone know if a way of installing a os on it and getting it to be a vpn

There are a few small operating systems still available for this board.
The first one that comes to my mind is of course m0n0wall[1].
Unfortunately the development of m0n0wall ha stopped, but there is a
perfectly working image on the website that works with the WRAP board.
Only PPTP VPN is supported.

Smallwall[2] tries to pick up where m0n0wall stopped. There is a beta
image that is a rebranding of the latest m0n0wall.

OpenWrt[3] might be for you. There is no pre-built image for the WRAP,
but there are instructions on how to build one[4].

After successfully building and flashing OpenWrt onto the WRAP you can
install OpenVPN or IPSec from packages (yes, there is a package repository).

Lastly the PC Engines WRAP page[5] lists a few other options. Perhaps
most of the are outdated but I'm sure that OpenBSD and NetBSD can still
be installed on the WRAP.

Happy hacking!
Mikael
